Decisions by Phone

My mom broke down and called the admissions office to see when letters were being sent- and they told her the decision! ACCEPTED as a Notre Dame Scholar! They also gave my friend his decision (also a Notre Dame Scholar!) over the phone. I guess they are letting people know over the phone this year. I am so happy!

I just called - they told me the letters were sent yesterday but they wouldnt give me my decision.

Nevertheless, congratulations!

They probably let you guys know because you were Notre Dame Scholars (congrats on that btw) but I wouldn't recommend calling. They most likely will not tell you your decision (this is the first time I have ever heard of it) as I am pretty sure that is a big no no for them. It will be there today or tomorrow, just breathe and have hope!

congrats emswim....know you are thrilled with this honor :)

Congrats! I'm so happy for you! :)

Congrats emswim...know how excited you are...my son will be joining you there, also got accepted as ND Scholar. Letter came today.

You don't deserve to go to Notre Dame seeing as you lied about it being your first choice on your application. You make me sick. Peace

I don't think I should even respond to your comment, but ND is absolutely my first choice. It is THE ONLY school I applied EA to. At times in the past ND has been tied with other schools in my mind, but from this fall onward ND has been my top choice.

Congrats emswim!! You do deserve it! some people are here are just bitter...

i've got to echo irish68178....never heard of them willing to disclose info over the phone before. Congratulations to those who got in to this school, but really people you know the letters are in the mail, take a chill pill and wait for the letters to arrive. If it was the end of December and you hadn't heard, I could understand calling...

Right now though the whole staff of the main building has enough they are trying to do with getting ready for our next semester and processing things like my request for a transcript or y'alls financial aid documentation that they don't need to deal with phone calls from those who can't/don't have the patience to wait another day...

I already posted this somewhere else, but I do not want anyone here to think I am a liar or did anything unethical.
-DJZahren, I think you misinterpreted what I said. Although I am applying to those other schools (referring to Stanford, Princeton, Duke, etc), I WAS NOT LYING when I told ND they were my top choice. Just because other schools were more selective does not mean I like them better. If you really want to look through all my posts, you will notice that virtually all of the recent ones are on the Notre Dame board. I was just asking my chances at other schools. When I said that Stanford was my dream school, I meant that it was one of those "likeit since 8th grade and I just want to see what happens" schools. I applied RD and did not write anything about Stanford being my top choice, because it isn't. I am so happy about getting into Notre Dame I almost didn't apply. Anyone who knows me would tell you that Notre Dame is my number one choice. My values are very important to me, so please stop calling me a liar! I don't want you to be mad at me over this; I think it is just a misunderstanding. Best of luck with your application.

emswim
I don't think that you need to worry about the op questioning your integrity. You have done the work that made your acceptance to ND possible! Be proud of you accomplishments and enjoy the moment. Congrats!

Also, it is just the nature of the beast. I am sure every applicant tells ND that it is their number one and that is part of how it is. In your case I certainly don't see it as being unethical and really (I hope this doesn't make me sound poorly) I don't see a problem with it in general. If you were to falsify your activities, then I think that would be unethical but if you have a lot of schools that you like and are right up there at the top then I don't see a problem with it honestly, but that is just me.

My opinion on this is biased because I admit that when doing interviews I did answer that the school that was interviewing me was naturally my first choice. However, I did do this after being turned down by ND and during a time when I really didn't have a number one, but still kind of in the same boat (except it sounds like you had more reason for yours).

Overall, emswim, don't worry about it...you are fine! I look forward to hopefully meeting you next year.

Eh whatever. It's Kool and the Gang.
