Decisions, Decisions (Ross)

First and foremost, I thank everyone who has given constructive, positive, helpful input on all topics regarding college admissions. I've lurked here for a few years. Alexandre, you have been particularly helpful on the U of M thread. Thanks again to all.

A little background - OOS student with no financial aid. Admitted into Ross-preadmit (U Michigan), Haas - not yet (Berkeley), McDonough (Georgetown), and Stern (NYU). I'm interested in Finance/International Business. I'm leaning towards Ross because of pre-admit, campus life, sports.

While Ross' new building is terrific, word on the street is that North housing isn't. I put in an LSA Honors app. Assuming I get in, is South Quad worth the extra effort for the housing? I have less interest in humanities, and part of me says not to do Honors, and ease into the college course load. However, the BBA GPA "resets" sophomore year, so earning a minimum ross GPA requirement of 3.3 should not be extremely difficult, with or without the Honor program's slight GPA curve.

If I were to opt out of Honors and do a regular housing option, would choosing single vs. double affect the probability of getting into the different campuses?

Any and all input is appreciated. Thank you.

^^Even if you get north campus housing, it’s unlikely you’d live in university housing after your first year anyway. The Ross program doesn’t start until the second year. South Quad is indeed in a great location, so I would consider honors for that reason alone.

You are obviously a smart kid and you will likely prefer the honors classes. Also, I understand the curve is more favorable in the honors courses to compensate for the fact that the competition is stiffer. My D, who is at Ross, was not in honors but did take an honors class first year. It was her favorite LSA class.

Yes. Living on north is a pain.

Correct.
