Decisions for UChicago Transfers?

is anyone still on the transfer wait list? and STILL waiting?

i just discovered this website. in a sick, demented, twisted sort of way---it's kind of comforting to hear the thoughts of other people who went through / are going through the same transfer torture.

I was still on the waitlist till Tuesday, then I got a call saying I got in. Keep calling the admissions office to check up on your status. They defintely take note of kids who are persistant enough to inquire as much as they can about their chances.

i called today=thursday
they said my letter was sent on monday
since they sent me a letter and not a phone call,
i'm assuming it's rejection.

wow uchicago is so bad when it comes to gettings things out.

sorry to hear that you guys.

Wow, I found this board today--great support system. I only wish I found it when I was going thru the app. process. Is anyone deciding to come to Chicago next year? (Better yet...econ major, from California?) Being a transfer student living so far away, I'd love to hear from someone going thru the same thing.

Does UChicago require transfer applicants to submit their high school transcripts? If so, is more weight placed on their current college transcripts or their 4-year high school transcript? I got about a 3.3 gpa at a very competitive private school but I just finished my freshman year at Bard College and got a 3.9. Thanks!

would i have a shot at getting in for next year? i dunno if i should even apply.

junior transfer from california CC, crappy HS, 960 SAT, 3.92 college GPA, and a LOT of EC's...

thanks

Yes, you have to submit in all your high schol transcripts and a counselor evaluation. Since college transcripts reflect on your more current academic progress, they count more than high school grades, though obviously since they are required, hs counts too--basically you want to show an upward trend so that the longer you've been in college, the more college performance take precedence over hs. You should always apply to your "dream school" regardless of your percieved chances. In my experience if you are truly enthusiastic about what a particular school has to offer you--that affinity will stand out and even if you don't get in, the experience of contemplating your educational ambitions and articulating it--that is a reward well worth the effort.

wow, chicago finally got their decision to me. i was on the transfer waitlist and officially got rejected today. halfway through summer and i havent made plans at my old school and dont have plans for my new school since i got rejected from all of my other transfers.

so a tip to any potential transfer applicants: pick the schools that you're going to apply to....then pick a few more.
