That's why I'm thinking that they would admit less students than they usually do and waitlist more; that way they will have a better idea of what the yield will be like and pick a bunch of students from the waitlist if they need to. That would be the simplest solution I would think but I don't work in admissions so I could be wrong.

I agree that would be the strategy if I were an admissions officer - which I am most definitely not. But since I assume they had made their decisions before the tournament success and associated publicity, that would mean they would have to change a bunch of kids from "admit" to "waitlist." That would seem to me a risky proposition since I'd guess a lot of waitlisted kids are likely to accept an offer elsewhere and be done with it rather than wait around to see if they get into DC. That admissions office strategy could result in a class of 370 rather than 570. My guess is the school would rather deal with an abundance of riches than a shortfall caused by a faulty strategy. Should be interesting to see how it shakes out.

hi! i was waitlisted too, which is alright, as davidson isn't one of my top choices (i was also waitlisted at 2 other schools...it's been a fun week)
i think stoneimmaculate has a very good point, so don't give up hope, waitlisted friends! i wish all of you the very best of luck, i'm sure you'll end up somewhere spectacular, whether it's davidson or not.
