Does anybody know when we will start hearing about early decisions and if acceptance letter will include scholarship information

Thanks

The earliest anyone reported an acceptance last year was December 16.

Not sure about scholarship stuff. I didn’t re-read all of last year’s thread, but here it is if you are interested:

Thank you…

Just got email saying decisions will be out in next couple of weeks

Keep in mind that means that decisions will start to come out in a couple of weeks. It could take another couple of weeks after that before everything is out.

It’s very frustrating when you see everyone else getting decisions and yours hasn’t come yet, so just be aware that that is how UMass has operated in the past.

notrichenough do you have children at UMass and at the University of South Carolina?

Doing a little CC-stalking, are we?

Yes.

No…I am also interested in the sports management program at USC and i thought I saw you posting there.

Neither of my kids is in the sports management program so I can’t really comment on it for either school, other than to say I’ve read that the UMass-Amherst program is one of the best in the country.

Some lists I’ve seen include SC, some don’t, for what it’s worth. They all include UMass.

Because of the scholarship my D got, SC is cheaper than UMass even though we are OOS for SC and IS for UMass. Your stats are right in line for the same scholarship at SC.

Do you know how common tuition waivers are at UMass?

They are not very common, UMass has nothing like the OOS scholarship list that SC has.

As an OOS’er, you have a decent chance of getting something to help defray the difference between OOS and IS tuition (especially if you applied EA), but this is likely to only be around $5K or so.

If you have financial need, you might get more, but UMass doesn’t do all that well in meeting need either. They are not very generous.

Thank you for the information. Really like the Umass program but I think it is going to be 2 expensive for me to afford to go there. Hopefully USC will work out

If you dont mind me asking what scholarship did your daughter get at USC?

are decisions always mailed or are they updated online first?

She got a McKissick - in-state tuition + $2000/year.

Just got an email from Umass

I am happy to tell you that UMass Amhest will begin mailing Early Action decisions on Monday, December 17th. Decisions on complete applications will continue to be mailed through mid-January. We encourage you to log onto your SPIRE account to check the status of your application. Please note that decisions may appear online before you receive a mail notification.

Good luck to everyone who is waiting for a decision.

Anyone catch the typo? Odd…
