<p>My D is entering MSU next fall in the Residential College of Arts and Humanities - but wants to add a major in journalism. Both RCAH and the communications college have required courses for freshman - so she will need to declare both before registering for classes.</p>
<p>What is the process for declaring a second major? Can it be done online or should she contact someone at the school?</p>
<p>Recommend working with academic counselors at both the colleges for planning purposes and to ensure the requirements for the programs are met.</p>
<p>You absolutely do NOT need to declare both before registering for classes. I knew plenty of people that graduated with double majors who didn’t declare until sophomore or junior or even senior year (myself included and a few of them were journalism/RCAH majors). </p>
<p>With that said, it’s a very easy process. Have your D schedule an appt with a journalism advisor and tell him/her that you want it as a 2nd major.</p>
