really @lax10708 I didn’t know that! I am also applying for sophomore year. I am confused are you applying for junior year or sophomore year?

an usually large amount of soph. girls applying or already there? @Lax10708

@funnygirl1200 I’m applying for sophomore year! and @rungirlrun2017 apparently there’s a large amount of soph girls already there!

@Lax10708 You mean a large amount of freshman? Sophomores will be juniors next year.

They had a bigger yield than expected last year overall-- both for freshmen and sophomores. They’ve had to double up in some dorm rooms ( which are usually singles), and they’ve lost all their beds reserved for day students in the underclass dorms (usually one room per dorm), for both boys and girls. That means they have to admit fewer to get those beds back-- both freshmen and sophomores

Although if they admit too few, of course, they’ll go to their wait list, which they never did at all last year.

Hey guys I just saw this thread and thought I would ask some fellow applicants how they though about my question. So im applying for 10th grade and ive been talking to the cross country coach frequently and he even met up with me at my interview which I thought was a good sign. He has also been telling me that I would be on Varsity if I were to make it in. Then the other day he emailed me and told me this year was very competitive for applications, which made me nervous thinking hes preparing me for a rejection, but then the email continued to tell me that I am one of his top recruites and was selling the school to me. I got wait-listed last year and was really feeling confident about this year until now. Are these nerves normal or am I overreacting?

normal… very normal. I would be scared too because this year the number of people applying has gone up a lot thus… “very competitive for applications”. So as a fellow applicant just take a deep breath until M10 and be proud of you application.

My daughter applied at Deerfield! I showed her History teacher the essay that she wrote for Deerfield…and she said “wow”. It might be good enough to stand out!

So my parents got an email the other day asking for the information for the financial aide i applied for. Is this a good sign because why would they look at how much financial aide i needed if i wasnt even accepted. Maybe im just overthinking this but hopefully its a good sign!

Don’t look into it too much. Last year I got a similar email from Exeter. And guess what! I was WL’d. Those letters mean nothing. Zilch. Nada.

Deerfield isn’t need blind. When looking at who they accept they take into account their financial situation too. So just as an example there are two girls identical in every way except for one need FA and one doesn’t… they won’t necessarily automatically choose the full pay one, but that person has a better chance. At least that’s my opinion.

I say, hopeful!!;)

GUYS!!! IF WE GET IN WE CAN ALL CHOOSE TO MEET AT SOME PLACE AND EAT PIE TOGETHER

my essay was only like 750 words…

I’m applying for 10th!! Thinking back to it my essay was a little boring, I wish I had written something more “me” without thinking about impressing an adult. Anyways what will be will be, all I can do now is wait

BUMP did anyone get in?

I was rejected :-<

^same…
