Yeah I’m not sure as well why I got accepted so quickly. Sorry if it has caused some confusion on the forum.

I suppose it doesn’t really matter does it? I’m so happy for you @M10anticipation!

Thanks Best of luck to you! @exeterbunny

Hey all,
Best of luck to you all! I’m a current sophomore at Deerfield Academy and here to answer any questions about Deerfield! Feel free to message me. I hope to see many of you on revisit day!

As someone who works in the Deerfield Admission office, I am not aware of anyone being offered a spot off of the WL at this early date.

@TheDoor I love your username. :D

@biggreen Peculiar, very peculiar… #:-S

Was the package FedEx, UPS, or USPS? Just curious.

I got accepted to Deerfield

@thisishowyoudoit CONGRATS! And welcome to CC!

I’m accepted to Deerfield

Same!

@M10anticipation: could you please provide some more details on your acceptance? One of my friend’s daughter applied to Deerfield last year and was also moved off the waitlist quite quickly (she was accepted prior to the revisit days). However it seems strange to me (and others here) that Deerfield has gone to the waitlist so quickly.

Can you please provide some more details? What exactly did the letter say?

Is anybody out there considering acceptances from Andover, Groton, Hotchkiss, Loomis, or St. Paul’s or Middlesex? What’s your first choice?

Yes, Andover was my first choice and I will be attending there next year. @jcubed2014

Deerfield’s acceptance rate for 2014-15 admissions season is 15%.

[School Welcomes the 15%](http://deerfield.edu/scroll/2014/04/20/school-welcomes-the-15/)

The article posted above states that 800 kids are waitlisted and 800 are denied admisison.

800 on the waitlist? Wow.

RE: Waitlist. For some unfathomable reason, Deerfield loves a long, long, long, long waitlist. I think it knows it rejects good kids and don’t want them to be totally unhappy and come back later in life and bust up on Deerfield for any reason. Somehow, some people seemed pleased with having made it to a waitlist at a competitive school – why, I have no idea.

Making it to a waitlist at a school like Deerfield is an incredible, wonderful feat to be admired. They liked you strongly enough to accept you as back-up, and you were talented and bright enough to be considered a second time around for a spot there. Just because you weren’t accepted right out doesn’t mean the school dislikes you or that you weren’t talented, so it should be respected.

I was told by an alum that Deerfield is a school that likes to hear you are their first choice. They have a lot of qualified applicants and will put many more on the wait list if they are not sure that the student will attend. This alum told me that if waitlisted and qualified, if you call up and say you really want it and will take the spot if offered they open up quickly. This exact thing happened so someone I know who is now at St. Paul’s after being wait listed. You have to be serious if you take this route. Please don’t try to play multiple schools.

So is anyone attending Deerfield this fall? I’m super excited
