Deerfield & Hotckiss

Unfortunately, I ended my first semester honors geometry math with 0.01% away from being rounded up to an A, and recieved a genuinely high B in my honors english class. Although I am applying to more schools, Deerfield and Hotckiss are my goals. I am an African American applicant from Arizona applying as a tenth grade boarder with full financial aid. My credentials are as follows

Semester 1 grades
Honors English: 88.4
Honors Geometry 89.49
Honors Biology: 92.3
French 1-2: 95
PE: 98
Business Technology: 95

Extracurriculars
Boy Scouts - 4 years ( I am planning on becoming an Eagle Scout between January and March of 2012)
Soccer - 2 years
Tennis - 1 year
I started a Model U.N. Club at my high school.
Cycling - 2 months out of school and am part of the cycling club
Acoustic Guitar - 2 years
Community Service - I have done roughly 150 + hours with Boy scouts and with other community service opportunities.
Speech and Debate club ( Recently placed fourth in Mock Congress at a 4A tournament.)
Rugby - 6 months

Do I stand a chance? Any suggestions?

Also my Total SSAT was 74.

Bumpp. I just want to know if I’m even a plausible candidate.

what grade are you in?
i think you have a really good chance.

I am currently a freshman applying as a sophomore.

You have geographic diversity going for you, and you are an "underrepresented minority; those should both work heavily in your favor, and you appear to be well-rounded. The test score is a little low for Hotchkiss & Deerfield, but not a “deal-killer.” Since you will also be seeking financial aid, I hope you are applying to a few more schools, including some less-selective ones.

Thankyou stagemum, I am also applying to Hill, Loomis, and Pomfret as backups.

I think you got a good chance as your grades are decent and you are not a typical N.E. applicant. ECs could have been better however , the backup schools , at least, will probably work fine for you.
