Chance for Hotchkiss

Ok, here goes nothing.

I attend a very competitive private school in Connecticut

SSAT(This Year):
72 Verbal
75 Math
98 Reading

91st Overall

I sent in last years as well
78 Verbal
88 Math
91 Reading

89th Overall

Grades- They're a little bit low, but they were a lot better last year
English- 84
Biology- 89
Spanish 2- 91
History- 85
Algebra 2H- 90

87.5 Overall Average (Last year I had like a 90 or 91) Made Honor Roll

EC's:
8th Grade Class President at my old school
Varsity Baseball- 1 year, I've been playing for 5 years
1 year of high school basketball (freshmen team lol), I've been playing for 3 years on
school teams
Was Hamlet in class play
Tennis- 3 years

Recs:
I think they were both pretty good, nothing amazing, but still above average.

I did awesome on the essays and very well in the interview.

Be honest, and don't be afraid to be a little pessimistic.

I'm not an adcom, but you look pretty good. Good luck! By the way, how did you like that play?

I think you probably have a good chance regardless but I think you forgot to post what grade your applying too, or I just didn't see it. Might want to post that. Good luck!

It was pretty good, some good lines that shouldn't have been cut out were, but overall it was a good experience.

Oh yeah I'm applying for 10th

Many extremely bright students apply for the 10th Grade. Would you consider yourself able to be an impact player in the Western New England Prep Baseball League in 10th Grade? By 11th Grade? If your answer is yes, and the positions you play are being helmed by a senior in 2009 or even 2010, I believe you will get in.
What other hooks do you have?

Well, I don't think I'm that great, but I'm still pretty good. We also know some people who have donated a lot and are on the board.

Finally, I'm not the only one applying who actually has more B's then A's. Thank you. (and same, I did much better last year as well)

It's not as good as some of the other posters here, but I praise you for your honesty, that will get you far in life no matter what.

The only problem that I seem to have is your GPA and lack of EC's (your SSAT scores are good). There's no helping it now, so don't stress yourself about it. Instead, try to find some interests now, go looks deep for something unique. (woo for internal rhyming!)

Please ignore "Vijayman". I do not know what he is talking about, nonetheless you have good chances.

that is the exact dictionary definition of an internet troll

He's just jealous. According to one of his previous posts, he scored in the 69th percentile on the SSAT. MDog795, you sound like a great applicant. Good luck!

Thanks guys, except vijayman.

“Was Hamlet in class play”

Not to be harsh or anything, but a class play isn’t really anything major. Unless you were Hamlet for an audition-only district play, I think that was pointless to mention.

Mentioning that just sort of makes you seem like you’re fishing for EC’s.

Your grades are pretty good, and considering that you go to a really competitive private school, I can see how it would be hard to get As.

I think you could use a little more fine arts-y stuff, as you have a pretty strong sports background.

I hope you mentioned your major passions and interests in your interview :)

Goood luck:]
& we’ll all find out in…9 days D:
