Deferral...is it worth pursuing?

I recently got deferred from Georgetown. Is there a way of finding out whether you're at the top or bottom of the deferral list? Here's my stats. Also, I applied to Notre Dame, EA and got accepted there.

SATs:not good 1950(math-650)(verbal-690)(writing-610)
SAT IIs: Did not take
ACTs: 32 composite (36 Reading, 32 english, 30 math, 29 science)
GPA:Weighted 4.2, Unweighted probably high 3.9
APs:School only offers 3...AP History Junior Year, which I got a 5, English and Calculus AB, both of which I'm taking this year.
Rank 1 of 90
ECs: Cross Country Captain 2 years, Basketball Captain 1 year, Baseball Captain one year, Track and Field, Student Council President 1 year, Editor of Newspaper 1 year, other clubs, Vocal Ensemble, Marching Band, National Honor Society, Strategic Planning Management Team for School District(only 3 students chosen from whole district) Biology Society, Theatre, community historical society

My question is, should I try to take the SATs again in January, to try and raise them, would that help? Or do they like to see the SAT IIs? Also I'm thinking of asking my interviewer for help, as well as a Georgetown student from my area that sent me a letter about Georgetown. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot.

Just keep the adcom up to date on your accomplishments, and maybe send a letter expressing how G'town would benefit from admitting you and how you would grow as a person.

You're fine with your ACT scores...I'd take SAT II's.

From the Georgetown website:

[quote]
SAT II Subject Tests
All candidates, whether they submit scores from the SAT or ACT, should submit scores from 3 SAT II subject tests of their choice. The writing portion on the new SAT will not be substituted for an SAT II subject test score.

While not strictly required, your application is "less complete" than others if you don't have SAT II's. Take them and that could up your chances.

Thanks. I'll probably take them in January. Do extra recomendations help too?

You should ask your GC to contact your regional admissions person at Gtown. Hopefully they will be able to tell the GC if there are any 'holes' in your application and what you can do.

good luck
