Well I received a letter asking me to send my mid year grades after a preliminary review. I wonder if this means I'm borderline since they've already sent out acceptances to scholarship candidates. I was surprised I received a letter though because I'm at their 75% stat wise and have solid ECs and essays. It probably doesn't help that I was the lowest ranked but still top 5% from my school that applied. Oh well, did anyone else get a letter?

I got one too, but reading it made me feel lucky and safe, for several reasons:

I had decided to send them a mid year report (without knowing it, about the date the letter was sent, how weird is that??) just in case, so there was nothing else to do...

My seventh semester grades turned out to be higher than all other semesters

It means they are giving me some consideration (there would be no point in requesting mid-year grades if they had decided "definately no" after reviewing my file).

So, it was good news for me anyway, because I have borderline stats....

I think they ask almost everyone who didn't get a scholarship invite to send mid year grades--just to make sure you aren't suffering major senioritis! Don't worry about at all! I applied last year and had to send mid year grades but I got in (but didn't end up going because of cost...I'm applying now as a transfer though!) As long as you have decent grades I wouldn't worry. If your grades have dropped A LOT (like from A's to C's) then I might be concerned and I'd write a letter explaining what happened. Otherwise, you should have no problem. Good luck!

the mid-year report is requested from all those already accepted and still being considered that have not reported their fall grades.

I think the mid-year report is both a good and bad sign. I've read into it, and it seems to be given to the students who are border-line. If you didnt get a letter, either you're not in, you've auditioned, or you've been accepted.

Guidez- they didn't request a mid-year report from me and i'm getting nervous that I was already rejected. However, i sent a portfolio to the school of fine arts so do you think that they're still waiting to look at that?

I think so, what are youre stats like? I think if you sent in a portfolio or auditioned, not having a mid-year request is fine.

you are probably alright!

would I still get this request if my school automatically sends senior year grades?

"the mid-year report is requested from all those already accepted and still being considered that have not reported their fall grades."

I'm pretty sure that is false.

i agree Bill5, i have a friend who goes to USC< and she never had a midyear request

ap71388 -- I don't know, but I doubt it, it depends when they sent in your grades...

about what date did most people receive this letter?

I didn't get one, but I sent my transcript like 1 day before I got my acceptance letter.

Mid-year reports aren't necessarily a bad sign, unless you screwed up 7th semester.

true dat, i didnt get a request, but i sent my grades in today anywyas!
