Deferred applicants

i was deferred from pton for ED and so i was talking to one of my friends the other day and he really put the word "deferred" into perspective. basically, ur not good enough and we want to see how strong the regular pool is and if they suck, then MAYBE, we'll give u a shot. i mean i kinda knew that but to have somebody put that in words...

anyway, to all the deferred applicants, you think they started re-evaluating our applications yet?

:( that's really depressing lol...

anyway my admissions officer said they talk about deferred people in march

now i just really want to be accepted or rejected...preferably accepted of course. but NO WAIT LIST! i don't care how amazing princeton is but if i do get wait listed, it's not worth it to wait around for a school that toys with ur heart and only choose you when all the top applicants have rejected them. that's my rant for the day...needed to get that off my chest.

14% of deferred applicants last year got in regular. That's much better than the regular RD acceptance rate.

someone suggested they might prefer the ED deferred pool to protect yield... that's nice i guess

Do we know yet how many kids were defferred? In other words, I'd like to know what I should base the projected 14% on.

with the whole not enough women pursuing math and science debate, u think princeton will admit more female students interested in those fields?

that seems like a question only Byerly could answer

I think being a female interested in the sciences is always a hook - not a big hook, but something that, when it comes down to two identical candidates, one wanting History and one wanting Math, could easily be the kicker. I'm sure it helped my app. (yay for girly math majors! YES)

i wish i was a female math major :p
