I just looked online for Tulane and yes, the screen updated to show me that I was deferred. Ouch. That was crushing. I'm a strong applicant, but as I've already seen on here, the Why Tulane? question was something I obviously should've taken more seriously.

My question is, if I've already applied for the Early Action deadline and been deferred to Regular Decision, do I have the option of applying for the full-tuition scholarships? I've been working on my essays and I want to know if I should continue or if I should focus on my other RD apps that have unfinished essays. Will I be considered for the scholarships if I've been deferred?

I think the scholarship is still available for RD just like Early Action. There is still life after rejection and dont lose hope. Do good in your essay and read Jeff blog regarding the essay and its pitfalls. Good luck and may the Force be with you.

vosborn - RD applicants are not eligible for the full tuition scholarships, but you are still an EA applicant. You are in the RD pool, but you applied EA which is the requirement. So yes, you are eligible. You are of course correct, as you now well know from reading the same comments dozens of times, that demonstrated interest (of which the essay is one form) is critical.

So if you think Tulane would be a serious candidate should you win one of the scholarships, tell your admissions officer that in an e-mail. But you also need to tell them why Tulane would be a good match. While no one denies that financial concerns are of great importance and a major reason for leaning towards one school versus another, I would think they would want to know why you would really be happy to be at Tulane, not why your parents are happy to save all that money!! LOL.
