D was deferred EA. Anyone know if EA deferrals will hear BEFORE RD kids and do you know if mid year reports could swing a decision? D Got a great mid year!

I was deferred EA too and I emailed an admissions rep about a month ago and she said that strong midyear grades defintely help a deferred applicant in the admissions process.

Also, I’m pretty sure we hear back at the same time as RD kids.

Probably the most common reason for deferring an EA candidate is to wait and see their mid-year grades before making a decision on their application, so YES – a great mid-year report can definitely swing a decision.

Congrats to your daughter on achieving great grades last semester.

And I think Georgie is right. EA deferrals are notified of BC’s decisions at the same time as the other RD candidates.

Thanks for the reply! I sure hope that you are right. She loves BC!

My sister was defered EA a couple years ago. She was admitted with the regular decision applicants at the same time as them. She also had good mid term grades. She was especially surprised when she was the offered admission to the honors program. If I remember correctly- the top 5-7% of applicants are offered honors, and they try to take the top 25% of their class from EA. She didn’t think she would be qualified for honors after being deferred EA. I think that if you aren’t denied in the EA process you are still a strong candidate for admission- I don’t think many are deferred, most are outright denied. Good luck! I know the wait is painful.

Thank you for the information–encouraging indeed. Hope by April 1st I’ll be writing an entry that starts with–ACCEPTED!
