<p>Woke up from a nap this afternoon to an excited text from a friend at Tech telling me to check my admission status! Logged in, heart pounding, ecstatic to see that my stats about my major are now showing, only to be crushed by the dreadful "deferred" notification.
I'm only especially disappointed because so many people had told me that my stats were a fit for Tech, and now I will be spending this winter break applying to a handful of other Virginia state schools and the next four months sulking.</p>
<p>I'm honestly just very confused.
Anyone else who is feeling the same way tonight is more than welcome to join me!</p>

Two personal statements that I felt very good about, no teacher recommendations.
Five honor societies (National, Music, English, Science, Future Educators Association), five leadership positions (marching band, show band, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Ethnicity/Culture/Language Club, Future Educators Association), active in twelve clubs/organizations (including three band ensembles and an orchestra), taken 11 AP classes over 4 years, and 100+ volunteer hours (and counting) over two years.</p>

<p>Bummed too. Now I have to really start figuring out where else I might want to go and start those applications. </p>

<p>Do you happen to know if this is pretty much a letter of denial going into the RD pool? Do we have any shot of getting in regular decision? I started a new thread about this but didn’t think it would hurt to ask here, too. Extremely upset as well.</p>
<p>It is certainly not a denial. If you have something good about this semester send a convincing letter to them why you really want VT. They will look at the regular decision applicants while revisiting yours. I suspect ardoun 30-40% of deferrals may get an acceptance letter (just a speculation) either the major they want or an alternate one.</p>
