Any idea how much my relatively poor 1st semester senior grades will affect me?
Thanks so much for reading!

I think you have a great chance at all of them, though I have no idea where you were deferred, lol. I applied for the same major and we have similar stats (you’ve got a better courseload, I’ve got a better school, I’ve got a higher ACT/SAT, you’ve got a much better SAT II list). And we have pretty similar stuff research-wise and general EC-wise too.

SEAS is a mid-reach, Berkeley might be iffy, but you’ve got a great shot at all of them. (I don’t know anything about Swarthmore).

Like I told you before, I think you have a better shot than I do :stuck_out_tongue:
We’ve got 3 other schools together lol, might be seeing you next fall.
Good luck on everything

Berkeley - high match
USC - match
UCLA - match

@idkidk, everlastingwish: haha it seems like Cornell f-'ed multiple CALS bioengineering people on this forum with either a rejection or deferral ): i heard maybe if we applied to COE, we would have in fact stood a better chance since they think you’re coping out by applying to bioeng in CALS. My argument was that i was more interested in the whole biology aspect of it since face it, bioengineering is more biology than traditional engineering )):

northwestern and berkeley are my two top choices right now but anyone have any idea how much those lame mid-year reports are going to matter because i have a feeling they’re gonna screw me haha

thanks for your honest chance everlastingwish, in an alternate reality where deferrals didn’t exist, we’d be still chillin in the cornell forum with our acceptance letters

@rosyhours: thanks!

additional input from anyone is greatly appreciated!

add Penn to that list.

^Oh, I’m applying to Penn SEAS, but I doubt my chances are high if I got deferred from Cornell ED )))):

bumpity bump

I’ll be honest, if you were white with those stats you’d definititly get into U of M. Not sure if being Asian would help/hurt you in this case, but you should definitly be fine for Michigan.

thanks! (:

^bumpitybump

anyone else have any things that they suggest might improve my application/chances? bumping this to the top again

post1066059805

I have very little knowledge of these schools, but that looks like a solid application. The only school up there that seems like a reach is Columbia. Good luck!

Cornell RD low reach
Columbia SEAS reach
Northwestern high match
Carnegie Mellon high match
USC high match
UC Berkeley OOS low reach/high match just because of OOS
UCLA OOS low reach/high match just because of OOS
WashU St. Louis match

The GPA scale makes your UW seem lower than it should be, it’s really excellent. The Ivy’s are unpredictable, but you already know that. The UC’s are apparently eager to accept more OOS students this year, so your chances are better than in past years. Good luck!

@aotsite: wanna get into berkeley so badly ): thanks for the chance!

bump~

i think yr good for northwestern, ucla and michigan. a bit more of a reach for wash st. louis but still a good shot. i think columbia is a stretch but im not too familiar with the school. good luck!

@whtstht: thanks! hopefully~

bump!

I heard that the Ivies are trying to cut over-represented minorities (ORMs).

^understandable; thanks! (:

bump!

bumpity bump~
