deferred from georgiatech

I got deferred from Georgia Tech. Why can u do to get in?

At this point, there is nothing much you can do.

Some people suggest asking your guidance counselor to call colleges you were deferred to in an attempt to discern what weaknesses may lie in your application. However, this does not usually work and may in fact harm you rather than help you in cases.

Since Georgia Tech is a public school, the admissions standards are probably much more black-and-white than they are for top private schools. I suggest just waiting for the final admissions decision in Spring; if you believe you have a good chance of being admitted, your probably do. There are a number of reasons why schools may defer applicants, and I would not read too much into it. The most simple one is that they want to compare you to the RD applicant pool.

At this point, just relax and enjoy your senior year. Apply to a few safeties if you haven’t done so already, and research the ones you did apply to (you’ll find that they are just as amazing as GT). Come May, I’m sure you’ll have been admitted to some impressive institutions that are on par with GT if not GT itself.

i have a 2130, 3.75 UW gpa, and i got deferred from 3 out of my 4 schools so for. i guess we have to know our limitations and accept rejection sometimes. going to community college to transfer out isnt that bad i guess. i got deferred from ga tech also today.

i feel you.

Pretty much in same boat here - 3.88 UW GPA, 4.01 W, 32 ACT

You guys all have pretty great GPA’s and SAT/ACT scores, and, assuming the rest of your application is solid, I would not be surprised at all if you all were admitted to schools that initially deferred you. Have hope!
