deferred from MSU

I was deferred from MSU in the fall with a 27 ACT and 3.5 GPA. Plenty of extracurriculars and lots of AP & IB classes. I applied Oct. 31. Anyone else who applied around the same time & deferred not heard back yet?

I was deferred as well. I applied around that same time too. Sounds like u u go robbed because use your stats should’ve gotten you accepted from what I’ve seen. I still haven’t heard back either.

Sounds more like they got too busy to look at yours yet. I would call them and ask when you will have an answer. I’d be shocked if you aren’t admitted.

I applied in late September and got deferred on Oct 31st! :frowning: Although, I was given a PID, which I heard from various people I was “technically in”. All of my materials were accepted in early February (7th semester grades and new ACT). On March 13 my spartan portal said I would receive a decision within two weeks, meaning this Friday (27th). I’m just really nervous and worried. I have a 3.6962 GPA. ACT is a 21, low (retook 3 times, subscores were higher on each test though, around 23/24). I have many many extra curriculars. So my questions are: 1. What do you know about deferred applicants? I feel like since my 7th semester grades were great (All A’s & 1 B) I should be okay. If they were going to deny me, they would have already, right?
2. What are my chances of getting in?
3. Is being assigned a PID really a big deal? Teachers from my school said I should be fine. I heard from my boyfriends sister (former MSU admissions rep) that she has never come across an applicant that was issued a PID and not got accepted.

Thank you in advance.

Hi I was also defered and want to go to State bad can you please tell me the decision when you get it thanks and good luck

Perhaps it was different in the past, but to be clear, every applicant to MSU is assigned a PID. It has no factor in admission and is not an indication you will be admitted or denied.

I am a a full IB student (I have gone through the whole program, so I all of my classes for the past two years have been IB and I am taking the exams in may), have a decent GPA, and received a 25 on my ACT. They told me that I would hear back within two weeks with the admissions decision and the end of that two weeks in tomorrow! Am I not going to get in since I haven’t heard back from them sooner? (I was deferred after filing out the early action application) Ugggghhhhhhhh it is making me so nervous, I just want to know if I got in already!

My S got deferred as well with a 30 ACT and 3.85 GPA… very disappointing when his friends got in with a lot less. He has taken 5 AP classes and 5 college classes. Tells me that they either admitted too many EA, or they are lazy!

I applied the first week of November and just found out I was admitted for spring with possible consideration for the fall semester still. 30 and 32 ACT, 3.8 GPA, IB DP candidate, APs every year including freshman year and excellent extracurriculars. I’m assuming that they admitted too many early on and realized that, being slightly overqualified, I’m most likely attending elsewhere. A little disheartening to get that result from a safety school, though.
