I was really disappointed when I found out I was deferred. If I do the deferred essay and send in my mid-year grades, do I have a chance of getting accepted into the nursing school? :( The mail said I can fax my essay. Does this mean my application will be reviewed again once I fax it or are they going to wait until they have my mid-year report which would be around late January? Is that too late?

My daughter was deferred from the College or Arts & Science. She has a 3.6 gpa and a 1200/1840 SAT. Since she heard she was deferred, she has sent her first marking period grades, an essay and an additional letter of rec. from the professor who is teaching her dual enrollment course. No word from Pitt yet. She will send her semester grades in January too.

OP: Sorry to hear that you were deferred. I would send (will Pitt accept a fax?) your essay and most current grades and then send your mid-year report with a cover letter when those grades are available. The only thing certain is that if you don’t try you won’t succeed. Might as well give it your best shot so you won’t always wonder “What if…?”.

You should also make sure that you have some other applications in at different schools. Just in case…

I am giving up my spot at Pitt nursing to attend Case Western’s program. I suspect some spots may open up soon as EA nursing schools send out their admissions to admitted Pitt nursing students. I think you sound like a great candidate for the nursing school. Perhaps you could send in a letter of rec from a nurse or someone who has supervised your health related volunteer work to supplement your deferral essay.
