Deferred from Tulane, Chance at others??!?!

So I got deferred, and I'm pretty scared what's going to become of my college search..

I have about a 3.75W GPA with an upwards slope with a 2100 (610R 740M 750W), and a good essay w/Varsity Lax. Coming fro a top 10 HS in FL, all courses either honors or AP.

I've applied to/or am applying it.

UGA
UF
SMU
University of Colorado
GWU
USC
University of Miami
College of Charleston
Georgetown
UCF

where do I stand at these? I'm pretty nervous, but I'm sure I'll get in a few places... Right?

Sorry to hear about Tulane. I would add more safeties.

Well I’m pretty sure I’m basically in at University of Colorado or Charleston, and if all else fails I’d be very happy at either of these.

Sorry to hear about Tulane. Frankly, I’m shocked, because your scores are good. I guess they would have preferred that your Writing score be your CR score. However, I think you’ll still get in.

Do you need aid?

What about Fordham? or possibly Holy Cross? I think your chances at Georgetown are iffy. Yes, you’re likely in at Colorado and Charleston. :)

You’ll get into more than Colorado and Charleston, and you should be in there. Don’t worry.

OP is a double legacy at Tulane; we are not hearing the whole story…
sorry about the deferral; given the legacy, and if you really care, may want to call down to NOLA and find out what to do to prop up your app for RD…

OP is a double legacy at Tulane; we are not hearing the whole story…

Is there more to the story? Or, was there possibly a mistake on the transcript or something? Did your best test scores get sent???

I think the GPA is 3.75W(Weighted) so that means the un-weighted GPA is probably low, is that the correct guess?

columbia-student: we have already seen others accepted with lower GPA’s this year…unless the UW is below 3.0?

fallenchemist may want to chime in, but I don’t get the feeling that Tulane is all about stats anyway…

yield-protection? anyone ?

I got deferred to =(…do you think we still have a chance at getting in??

i have a feeling i’ll get in…

i heard they got more early apps then usual this year, so maybe they just filled up their spots to quickly?

I don’t know, I guess I’ll go into Guidance and make sure they got my correct scores.

THAT’S so weird you got deferred.
I didn’t have your SAT scores or your credentials, so maybe Tulane’s hating on you, but I think that your credentials are more than adequate, so don’t let this one get you down!

And I really didn’t think I’d have a shot at Georgetown, but my mom made me apply.

It’s all good, I really don’t have any desire to go to Tulane, they just gave me the free app so I did it just to do it.

But about Georgetown, my buddy who has around a 4.6W and a 2100 SAT and outrageous ECs went in for his interview with the local interviewer and said it was awkward and that he didn’t have much of a connection/the interviewer seemed to not like him…

But with me it was the complete opposite, we were talking up a storm, and found we had alot in common. I got her talking and orginally she told me I would be there an hour and I ended up being there talking for and hour and a half!!

I’m sure the interview doesn’t hold that much weight at a school like Georgetown, but I’m sure she’ll give me a great report! Before I left she was telling me how regardless of where I go I’ll be really successful and to not get caught up in the whole process which made me happy :)

I’ve always felt that I was a really personable social person, and that really helped me in this case!

My interview for Georgetown was awkward (it was with an alum who works for the governor, so he was a little intimidating), but overall, I think it went well. I hope everything goes well for you (Georgetown letters are mailed tomorrow for EA, fyi). SOO NERVOUS, good luck!

but yeah just kinda a bummer coming home from my vacation to NYC and having my Tulane letter there, it being my first news of any college, and getting deferred!

but it’s all good, it’ll all work out…

I got in all my stuff for EA, but never got any confirmation or anything, and only did my interview last week!

I really hope I’m still up for EA ah
