Congratulations to all that have been accepted. My son applied in October and has been deferred. Stats: ACT 32, GPA 3.4 (hard to figure GPA, graduated from Australia private school), AP Microecon 4, AP Macroecon 3, IB Physics 4, IB English HL 5, IB Business HL 5, IB Spanish 6, IB Math 5, IB History HL 5. Also several Honors classes. Attended school in US through sophomore year and Australia junior and senior years. He is a US citizen. Volunteered in the community and played sports in school. Why do you think he was deferred, could it be because he applied as undecided? What are his chances of being accepted at this point? If accepted this late, will he end up in a quad dorm? Thanks!

It shocks me to see he has been deferred when I know people that applied in December with 26 acts and 3.5 gpas get accepted weeks later. I feel like applying early may have been the problem. You can always email an admissions counselor and ask why. When I was denied that is what I did and they told me I was competitive enough gpa wise with others from my school and my gpa and act didnt have a strong correlation I had a 27 act and 3.7 gpa. But I alway heard it was easier to get in by applying undecided than something competitive like engineering. But if he is eventually accepted he will have time to still sign a housing contract which is due may 1st. And dorms at osu are plentiful so i dont think youll have much of a problem. And from looking at the past deferences on the website from the years before most are accepted between mid feb and march! I hope your son has better luck getting accepted than I did but then again I think with a 32 act it would be very surprising to see him get denied admission from main campus!

Thank you for the info. My son did call admissions and they gave him a generic answer, it is competitive and his application was deferred, not denied. We’ll see what happens.
