I was wondering because my son received a letter a couple years back that said if he turned his application in before (I think) the first of October then they would give him a ED answer around the beginning of November but the application was the same as everyones. So if my son's was turned in later I thought it would have been treated like all the other applications. What you said is interesting.

Im almost 100% positive that Michigan State doesnt do early decision. To whoever said they got the letter in the mail about strongly consider other options, everyone that I know who got deferred got that also. I guess all we (deferred people) can do now is wait until April.

I don't know if it is actually a "early decision" like other colleges but they did send a letter saying if my son got all his paperwork in by a certain date he would have an answer early. And I am pretty sure it was to be in by the beginning of October to get a answer by November. He actually got everything in by the beginning of September and had a answer in early October. This was a couple of years ago so I don't have the letter now.

They still do that. I don't know how they choose people for that, but I think remember reading on here somewhere that they send you that letter if you put MSU in the first college column when you fill out the ACT paperwork..? If it's true I'm surprised that there's a difference between each row.

I turned my application in for early admission by sept.30 i hav a 3.4 gpa and i got a 23 on the acts. I have taken many ap classes over my high school career and i passed all ap exams with a 3 or above. My friend just got accepted the other day with a 3.1 and 24 act. Today I looked online and it said that they need my seventh semester grades before they can make a decision. does anyone know if that means i hav a good chance of being rejected? I am doing really good my senior year with all A’s and my gpa is climbing. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I have to do now? And what does sevemth semester grades mean. My school only has two semesters and one is coming up so Id like to know when I have to turn in everything if anyone can help that would be great THANKSS!!

Seventh semester refers to your first semester of senior year (two semesters per year of 9th, 10th, and 11th grades = 6 semesters)–how was your Math ACT? :)

It just means that they want to see your first semester senior grades before making a decision on whether to admit you.

the reason so many people are getting deferred this year is because they over-admitted last year and it was a serious problem for housing and their campus was not meant to hold that many people. the reason people who have lower stats got in was probably because they applied earlier. i applied in september and got my acceptance a week later. just do well senior year and you should not have anything to worry about! if they did not want you, they would have denied you (i had a friend who got denied) keep your head up

Hey everyone, I was recently deferred from MSU too. However, instead of asking for my 7th semester grades, they asked for my mid-semester grades. (1st quarter). Which I hear is kind of weird? Anyone else get this response?

my s status changed to “Your application is currently under consideration with your reviewing counselor. The review process can take up to 12 weeks”
did you get this prior to deferred
