Deferred people!

Bottomline is UCF admissions suck. I got deferred for Fall 2011. I’ve been trying to get them to move me to the Fall because it would be inconvinient for me to start in the summer. I also think it’s ridiculous because I have a 4.149 unweighted GPA and a 3.766 GPA. My SAT scores are a little low (1780) but it’s still in their average. Since when does UCF think it’s prestigious enough to drop a student with a high GPA?

I’m going to speak with the president of admissions soon to fix things up?

Yeah I don’t see why you were deferred. And in this email they sent me, they said that my test scores & GPA are lower than their averages. I don’t know if they just didn’t tailor that message towards me, but although I haven’t calculated my “UCF GPA” it should be at least at or above their average (3.5) - because I have a 3.5 UW and a 4.8 weighted which is without last semester’s grades. My test scores are crap though so I see why they haven’t given me a decision yet, but I was just surprised to “hear” that they think my GPA is below their averages…

Theyre really making me angry

I was deferred too for fall 2011 pending my spring semester grades :frowning: I am at an out of state university with a 3.73 gpa… really sad

I actually only recently sent them transcripts with the 3.73 though (my prior transcripts had my old 3.64 GPA) … Hopefully once they see the improvement i’ll be accepted

I really hope everyone who gets deferred will be offered summer admission, AT LEAST

I’m an out of state student, and I completed 2 years of undergrad at a small private school in NC, with a completely different credit system than Florida. The way some of my credits transferred for their “once in a lifetime classes” left me with a low GPA, and well my transcript is not so pretty to look at. I think I left with like, a 2.4 GPA. ACT Scores, 26, graduated HS 2007. I will graduate Valencia with my AA in May, with a 3.56 hopefully GPA, straight As this semester. I applied to UCF for summer 2011 and they deferred a decision until they get my final transcripts showing my “current in progress semester grades”. I was wondering what you all think of my chances of getting in, and should I start applying to other schools so I can at least take classes in the fall?? My Fiancee who is in the exact same boat as me, just with a higher GPA and better test scores, and he was just accepted today… I’m freaking out and just really don’t want to end up not having anywhere to take classes in the fall…
Thanks guys!!! Appreciate any help!!!

I definitely feel your pain UCFWannabe… I was deferred for the exact same reason! They want to see my “current in progress semester grades” which of course means we wont have a definite answer until May at the earliest ( see my post above for my stats ). Anyway, I think once you complete your AA you will get in ! I am at an out of state univ. and won’t have an AA so your chances are better than mine. Admissions explained to me that if you’re currently in a core English or math course, you will be deferred until it is completed. Let me know if you find out anything! good luck

So I read all of these posts and decided to add my stuff to it.

I applied in August for Fall 2011. I am coming from a Community College in NY. I got deferred the first time in January because they wanted an updated Transcript. I sent that in and today I have found out that I have gotten Deferred AGAIN! This is what it said…

-Your application has undergone an initial review and is currently deferred for further evaluation with the Admissions Committee. A decision may be delayed as we assess the strength of this year’s applicant pool.

-If you would like to submit additional information or test scores to improve your competitiveness and allow us to make a more immediate decision, please send additional credentials-

I do not no exaclty why I was deferred this time. I think they are waiting to see if other people are better and than if there is any room left they will let me in. Its just rediculous. Its like I have waited so long and you haven’t denied me but won’t accept me either.

My GPA is 3.1 and I haven’t sent anything else. Should I try and send in a Letter of Recomedation Letter from one of my professors?

Thank you msigel1 for your info from Admissions… I am currently in Math, and English, both core classes, so I’m sure that’s the reason I was deferred. Thank you so so SO much for letting me know they said that, it took away a lot of anxiety!!

And vimp22, I suggest waiting, I think there are a LOT of students who have applied and been accepted for Direct connect that won’t graduate this semester, or something will happen where a spot will open for you. I’ve already talked to three people who said they were accepted, but aren’t going to be able to meet the 2.0 GPA requirement.

I guess, what I’m saying is, let’s all hold out hope!!

i was defered
