Deferred-- Regular Decision Chances-- Please respond.

I was deferred and I'm freaking out because UGA is my #1 choice. Especially since they are so accommodating to students with disabilities.

-Deferred
-Out of State
-In the top 10% of my class
-School GPA Weighted: 4.072 (our school only gives AP higher weighting, not honors)
-Unweighted: 3.857
- National Honors Society Member
- Competitive Gymnast (CLUB)
***Learning Disabilities
-ADD/ADHD- Inattentive Type
-Convergence Insufficiency
-Dyslexia
<for my="" act="" i="" was="" not="" given="" any="" accommodations,="" denied="" because="" wanted="" documents="" from="" before="" 12,="" and="" misdiagnosed="" in="" 1st="" grade,="" diagnosed="" until="" jr="" year.="">
-SUPER SCORED ACT: 27
- Highest Sub-scores: English : 26 English/Writing Combined: 27 Math: 27 Reading: 28 Science: 25 Writing: 10
-ACT Composite (without being super scored) : 25</for>

***On the special circumstances of my application I explained my learning disabilities and why my ACT scores were so poor.

I am not at all trying to sound rude or anything but my ACT scores really do not reflect my intelligence at all, I have never even been able to fill in every single bubble in a section, even with taking the 5 minute warning to randomly fill in the bubbles.

Anyways I am freaking out because I have seen so many things saying mostly RD UGA applicants are accepted over EA Deferred because EA were deferred because they were not "qualified" enough. I really want to get accepted but I feel hopeless because of this. I was hoping they would see how hard i have worked with my Learning Disabilities to overcome them and do well, but i feel like they didn't even consider them at all. I think maybe my UGA GPA might be the problem because a lot of people's end up way lower than their school's GPA, But I have no clue how to calculate my UGA GPA. Does anyone think I even have a chance of being accepted with my stats?

I am super confused on how to calculate my UGA GPA so could anyone maybe help my with that as well?

9th& 10th English: 4 A's
AP Literature: 2 B's
Bio: 2 A's
Honors Chem: 2 A's
AP Physics: 1 B
Reg Physics: 1 A
Geometry: 2 A's
Algebra 2 Honors: 2 A's
Pre Calc H: 1 B
Pre College Math: 1 A
World History: 2 A's
USA History: 2 A's
Spanish 1: 2 A's
Spanish 2 Honors: 2 A's
Spanish 3 Honors: 2 A's

I have only gotten 4 B's ever and 3 were in AP Classes, and one was in Pre Calc which is the HARDEST CLASS at my school. I literally got to school at 6 am everyday for that class, and we had 50-80 problems every night for homework and the teacher graded ten problems at random and if they were wrong you lost points, so basically you could do 80 problems and get a 0 on a homework assignment. I had to drop it due to Learning Disabilities

Anyways I am super upset because I feel the did not take into effect that I have LD's and everything is so much harder for me. I feel like it is because of my ACT score being so low, But this is the only school i applied to that has the super scored ACTs so now I am freaking out that I will be denied everywhere if I couldn't get into UGA with a super score 27.

I am so sorry if any of this came out in a rude way to anyone. I really was not trying to offend anyone. I am just worried that I will be denied everywhere and wont get to go to college and get to become my dream job. I already had to drop my dreams of being an engineer due to the whole LD's and not having a 30+ ACT thats like required to get into engineering schools. I really don't want to have to end my education with like only a high school diploma and no future..
Once again SO SORRY FOR THIS TERRIBLE LONG RANT.. BUT IT WOULDN'T HAVE MADE SENSE IF I DIDN'T EXPLAIN EVERYTHING.

Do not feel bad! You look like you are doing a great job despite your disabilities. However, I am quite surprised at the lack of accommodations for the ACT? I had a friend with dyslexia (she’s currently at Ga Tech too!) and she received testing accommodations for the ACT and scored a 35.

Being deferred is definitely not the worst thing in the world, and now you can share your gymnastics achievements in your essays. Also, now you can get an amazing teacher rec!
UGA also has a small wave of February admissions for deferred EA or EA qualified RD applicants so you may get in then as well. Don’t lose hope!

UGA calculates GPA by taking each semester grade for all core classes: English, Foreign Language, Math, Science, and History plus AP computer Science & AP Art and the like. Each A is worth 4, each b is a 3 and likewise. Then you count up the number of semesters and divide. If your school weights AP classes or honors you cannot add extra points for AP. So an A cannot become a 4.5.

You are below UGA’s averages for the # of AP courses, GPA and ACT scores. They accept a smaller percentage of students through regular decision. For Early Action decisions they do not review your application holistically. They look purely at your stats for admission. During regular admissions they will read your essays, review your EC’s and all that stuff.

Now in terms of dyslexia there is no reason to think you do not have a future. I was dyslexic or I guess I should say once you are one you always are. Yes, gaining acceptance to college was more of a challenge but once there I aced my classes and performed extremely well. If you don’t get into UGA your life is definitely not over. There are many schools with engineering programs and UGA’s engineering school is relatively new so it has its disadvantages. You should apply to some schools that will look at your application holistically where your stats fall within their accepted range. There is no reason why you should be giving up your dream to study engineering you just may not be able to do it at UGA. However, if you are weak at mathematics engineering may not be for you as it requires very strong math skills. Did you not do well in math because you struggle with concepts or is it because you transpose data? If you just don’t get math I would carefully reconsider a math dependent major.

Best Wishes! By the way there are many colleges out there that will be accommodating of your needs.
