Deferred to ED2 and Unsure on what to do next

I was recently deferred from the ED1 pool of a highly selective LAC to the ED2 round. I’m assuming this is because my GPA was the weaker side of my application, and they want to see my midyear grades. I don’t know what my chances are now, or what I should do to improve them. Is two additional rec letters too much? Should I send a letter (I wrote one that’s about 600 words)? Should I call or email admissions? Should I sent a letter in the mail? I really didn’t expect this result (was preparing for accept or reject) and am feeling anxious about what is in my power. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

  1. E-mail/Call/Send a letter to the college rep for your state/region
  2. Empathize with the college rep that you know this is very difficult and that they have probably read thousands of files
  3. You might even say that you don’t envy their job
  4. Make it clear that this school is your 1st CHOICE (if it is)
  5. Tell them that you are very excited about (name of school) and you know that you will make a difference there. Also be sure to let the rep know why you feel that this school is the right school for you. Know something about the school to show the rep that you have researched the school.
  6. Mention that you have some great things coming up this year (Elaborate if you can)
  7. Ask if it is appropriate to send additional examples of either your school work or activities.
  8. Ask another teacher/community member/employer to write a letter of recommendation for you and have them send it directly to the rep.
  9. KEEP YOUR NAME OUT IN FRONT FOR THE REP

No. Do not have people send letters to the rep directly. Honestly, your best bet is good grades this semester and bringing any new accomplishments to their attention. You know… substance.
