@just_nag no. Not from the 2021 deferred

February 17th
March 3rd
March 17th(maybe)
April 7th
Every day is a little closer. I know exams for me are around the corner, best like everyone. Every single day I get filled with anxiety thinking about all this, I wish I could take it off my mind
@Straightoutta7 Ohh mine was signed by Erica as well
Got deferred as well. As far as i know, a large group group of students has been deferred this year. Some students who apply ivy league schools use UM and UIUC as their back-up schools in the past few years. UM is very likely to deny/deferred these students this year.
So many students who apply ivy league use UM as their back-up school. if UM think you are one of them, they may defer you and accept students who have lower grades.
@juntao99 I didn’t apply to any ivies but I applied to UIUC as a back up school. I think that UM rejected me because of my lower gpa however
Deferred, right? Not rejected, keep the faith.
@HRSMom oops, that’s what I meant: Deferred
Yes me too…hoping
Did people who received the deferral letter that suggested 7th semester grades but didn’t require them end up getting in too?
@ILM822 I believe the general consensus is that that ones is the better letter
someone please tell me if this is the better letter!!! i feel like the “i would encourage you to explore other opportunities” is iffy but I can’t tell. help!
Meghan,
On behalf of our Director Erica Sanders and myself I thank you for your continued interest in the University of Michigan. Please be assured that it has been noted in my evaluation of your application, along with the updates that you have shared.
The University received a record breaking 32,500 early action freshmen applications this year, so admission is still very competitive. Before we can make a final decision on your application we need to further evaluate the strength of the regular decision applicants, as well as the yield rate of our admitted students to determine if we have space for you in the freshman class. If you have not yet done so, please submit your 1st term senior year grades when they are available so they can be considered as we continue to assess your application. Other than that, there is nothing further we need from you at this time and we ask you do not send any additional materials.
As stated in your deferral letter, we will have a final admissions decision for you in early April and appreciate your patience as you await a final decision. Again, admission to the University of Michigan is the most competitive it has ever been this year, so although I encourage all deferred students to keep the University of Michigan as an option, I would also encourage you to explore the other opportunities available to you.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or concerns.

This is the better letter. But I am not sure if every adm counselor adds that last sentence in…My son’s letter doesnt have that. It’s anybody’s guess at this point.
I think they were all given the same letter to just copy and paste as a general response to continued interest emails
I thought the “better letter” referred to your deferral letter, not respond to LOCI.
My LOCI response was only 4 sentencses. "Thanx for ur LOCI. We will include in ur file. Any further question pl contact. " Thanx regards whtever
You r right @JPGator98. My bad. The ‘better’ letter does refer to the deferral letter and not the LOCI
Will some result come tomorrow
@USUG21 Doubt it. I am thinking Feb 3rd
Hey guys… recently sent my LOCI (followed a standard format and included my senior fall grades) and this was the response:
On behalf of our Director Erica Sanders and myself I thank you for your continued interest in the University of Michigan please be assured that it will be noted in my evaluation of your application and I will use this information to advocate for your admission, along with your strong 1st trimester grades.
The University received a record breaking 32,500 early action applications this year, so admission was very competitive and we were not able to admit all of the academically excellent students who applied. At the University of Michigan we use a holistic and comprehensive review process that looks beyond a student’s GPA and test score. We are also assessing their curriculum, extra-curricular involvement, leadership & awards, personal characteristics, and essays. Additionally, we gauge the level of interest the applicant demonstrates in the University, as well as their fit within our campus community.
Before we can make a final decision on your application we need to further evaluate the strength of the regular decision applicants, as well as the yield rate of our admitted students to determine if we have space for you in the freshman class. Since we have already received your 1st trimester grades there is nothing further we need from you at this time. As stated in your deferral letter, we will have a final admissions decision for you in early April.
Again, admission to the University of Michigan is the most competitive it has ever been this year, so although you are still a very strong candidate for consideration, I would encourage you to keep the University of Michigan as an option but also explore the other opportunities available to you.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or concerns.

I’m not really sure what to make of it – it seems like everyone is basically getting the same response with slight variations based on their regional counselors. I’m getting so many mixed messages from my response (especially the final paragraph)… can someone help me interpret this?
