Deferred U Mich Ann Arbor Class of 2021

Can u imagine u rcvd such a long letter. I rcvd only the first paragraph

@mrhorsejr This looks VERY good. She states she will advocate for your acceptance, that you are a very strong candidate, and that you have strong 1st trimester grades

Hey guys I know this has probably already been said but can somebody let me know if this is the “good” letter for deferral? Thanks!

"Thank you for your application to the University of Michigan. We are pleased that you have applied and are impressed with your achievements. However, our high application volume, coupled with the very strong credentials of our applicants in recent years, has contributed to an increasingly competitive admissions process. As a result, we are writing to inform you that your application is currently being deferred for further review.

While this is not the answer that you were hoping to hear, your application remains under consideration. All final admissions decisions of admit, deny, or waitlist will be made no later than early April, 2017.

Strong fall semester or trimester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants. Therefore, please ask your high school counselor to forward them when they become available. Beyond that, we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. The most successful candidates send us only what we require. Please refer to the website https://umich.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2080 for FAQ’s about the admission process and what to do next.

We hope your interest in Michigan continues. You have our best wishes for an enjoyable and successful end of your senior year"

Personally I think you guys should really not read into any of these letters. There are many different variations of the basic same letter. My guess is that the letter is a template and each admissions person can put their own spin on it. I doubt they are sending out letters with hidden meanings. Hate to disappoint you but it is a waiting game and you really can’t determine your likelihood of getting in based on some potentially hidden meaning in a letter. Patience all!

@mrhorsejr very mixed signals in that message. just don’t worry about it-- theres nothing more you can do besides wait

@dogsrthebest - BINGO!

Third friday of jan… can we expect any thing today

Guys,
I sent by letter of interest about a month ago but forgot to include to UM ID number common app ID number info to my counselor. I also sent one to the admissions office but it include the info in that email. My counselor also sent my mid year grades ( with a great upward trend) and also a letter of continued interest and he also included my info ( he sent it to the same counselor that i sent forgot to mention the info to) . So will it hurt my chances a lot or will they easily be able to make the link?
Freaking out here…

Ok super dumb question but I just got a letter in the mail about Michigan dear born (branch campus). Did anyone else get these??? I am probably over reacting but there is a part of me that is freaking out

@USUG21 probably nothing until the first Friday in February

I would like to show my deferral letter

Dear XXX:

Thank you for your freshman application to the University of Michigan. After an initial individualized and comprehensive review of your application, we have determined that we will need additional information in order to make a final decision. We will not re-evaluate your application file until after our regular decision deadline of February 1, 2017. We need this additional information and time to ensure that we give your application the best possible review. We will notify you of a final decision on your application by early April.

The quality of grades earned in academic courses is one of several critical factors taken into consideration in evaluating a student’s competitive admissibility. To give your application a final evaluation, we will need your fall semester or first trimester grades. Because it is important that we receive these grades as soon as possible, please request to have a PDF of your grades sent from the issuing institution to our office via an e-transcript vendor or to ecredentials@umich.edu. If your counselor sent the initial School Report for your application through The Common Application online portal, they will need to complete the 2016-2017 MidYear Report using the same method. Otherwise, please ask your high school counselor to fax a report of these grades to our office at 734-936-0740.

Be sure your U-M ID XXXXXX is on all materials submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

We appreciate your interest in the University of Michigan and look forward to receiving the information requested. If you have specific follow-up questions, please visit https://umich.custhelp.com or phone 734-764-7433. We look forward to reviewing your completed application and appreciate your interest in the University of Michigan.

Go Blue!

Anyone got the same deferral letter? as i have seen, most of you got the other one

i got different deferral letter. need only 7th semester grade.

my loci letter said the guy would “continue to advocate for my admission.” Is that a good sign? I had my strongest gpa senior semester too.

Yeah that’s not the generic letter so it sounds good

Can i still send in a letter of interest? Or is it too late for that and would it look bad?

I think u can send

Hey guys:) for those of us who were deferred, will there be an update again in the portal with our final decision or will it just be an email this time? Good luck to all

@michiganea2021 There will be an update on the portal followed by an email. All the best!

Would having 3 A’s, 2 A-'s, and 1 B+ help me if they are my semester grades? The A’s would be in Orchestra, Honors Zoology, and AP Euro, the A-'s would be in AP Lit and AP CoGo/Micro, and the B+ would be in AP Calc AB.

@UofMorMSU What are you applying for? Engg?
