@just_nag LSA for PolySci (probably)
@UofMorMSU My 2 cents…if these grades improve your overall GPA, then Yes it would help you. Also, a B+ in Calc may have a negative impact if you were applying for Engg.
@just_nag Yeah it bumps my Weighted GPA a lot. Also, I definitely did not apply Engineering.
@UofMorMSU Good for you. It’s all good then. Your chance of being accepted went up. Good Luck!
@just_nag Okay thanks!
Will it improve your umich recalculated gpa? Umich doesn’t look at weighted gpa they recalculate it to their scale @UofMorMSU
I believe my school sent my first semester grades last week but it hasn’t said they received it anywhere (common app or wolverine access) so should I try and contact them or let it be?
It takes a while to process. Just wait for a couple more days
@Eeeee127 Yeah it’d bring up my Michigan GPA too. I think they look at multiple forms of GPA, they just use theirs as the standardized GPA.
How do you think this will look? I’m already at a 3.86 UW/3.82 Michigan GPA
A,Band, Chemistry, AP Calc AB
A-,Astronomy, AP Physics C
And then an A- but it might be an A in literature.
@Straightoutta7 If you are looking for feedback. I am not sure if this will change anything for you. Your scores are still strong.
Does it help a lot to visit after being deferred and do official tour
@rangersfan800 probably not
Is this a good letter? The “I will advocate for you” kinda got my hopes up:
"
Hello phayzon,
Thank you for your email.
On behalf of our Director Erica Sanders and myself I thank you for your continued interest in the University of Michigan please be assured that it will be noted in my evaluation of your application and I will use this information to continue to advocate for your admission, along with the updates awards you have shared in this email.
The University received a record breaking 32,500 early action applications this year, so admission was very competitive and we were not able to admit all of the academically excellent students who applied. At the University of Michigan we use a holistic and comprehensive review process that looks beyond a student’s GPA and test score. We are also assessing their curriculum, extra-curricular involvement, leadership & awards, personal characteristics, and essays. Additionally, we gauge the level of interest the applicant demonstrates in the University, as well as their fit within our campus community.
Before we can make a final decision on your application we need to further evaluate the strength of the regular decision applicants, as well as the yield rate of our admitted students to determine if we have space for you in the freshman class. Please submit your mid-year grades when they become available so they can be considered, but other than that there is nothing further we need from you at this time. As stated in your deferral letter, we will have a final admissions decision for you in early April.
Again, admission to the University of Michigan is the most competitive it has ever been this year, so although you are still a very strong candidate for consideration, I would encourage you to keep the University of Michigan as an option but also explore the other opportunities available to you.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or concerns."
the same letter to who sent LoC letter.
no. just wait
I do see this morning that the portal was updated showing that they received 7th semester grades and updated counselor report.
it doesnt help at all
Who should I send my letter of continued interest to? I looked up which counselor represents my region but I couldn’t find anything. I live in Champaign, Illinois
@rainman778 I experienced a similar issue. From Illinois as well. For us, we have 3 counselors, 2 of which have certain high schools they represent. One of them represents “the city of Chicago.” I ended up sending mine to the admissions director, because none of those counselors represented my region.
