Deferred U Mich Ann Arbor Class of 2021

Guys is there a specific method they go by when releasing deferral decisions? Like is the first batch based on acceptances and the next batch rejections and so on? Or is it based on region, for example? Just wondering what its been like in the past so we can kinda know what to expect…

Checked my S’s app status; says second notification for first semester grades. Grades were just released last week…takes the guidance office up to three weeks to get the grades out. Sigh.

Hey guys, I was also deferred. Do we have to submit our 7th semester grades or is it optional. If its required, i’ll turn it in tomorrow. Thanks so much and good luck to everyone.

@ngs133 If your 7th semester grades were strong, I’d definitely submit them. Can only help you. Don’t think they’re required though. But then again, why not submit them if they’re something that could help you? :slight_smile:

@Talentless What are the different types of deferral letters? Sorry, I’m new here and a little confused…

@Biryani2017 I wouldn’t read too much into the different types of deferral letters… they’re all pretty similar and we really don’t know what to expect. all we can do is wait :slight_smile: hopefully there will be some decisions up friday !

@Biryani2017 there are 2 to 3 types of defferal ltrs discussed to be receievd by applicants. One has specified that they are impressd wihj the achievements. But since there are lot of applications the app is currently deffered. There is another ltr which specifically asks for 7th semester results. The first one is cnsiderrd good here in cc even in last year also. The second one is considered not thta excellent .

Now which one u rcvd . Though these letters does not hve any meaning except that different ppl hav different style of writing.

do you guys still have the old “view decision” link from december

Yeah

@USUG21 I don’t know if the letter thing is necessarily true bc when i sent my loci they said my gpa was lower than avg so i wasn’t as competitive as the top applicants and I got the “good” deferral letter.

Very sad… did ur deferral ltr had the line that they r impressed by your achievements ? @renwa

@USUG21 Yeah

Very inconsistent then…
@renwa

My theory is that the letter that says how they were impressed with your achievements but they had 32,500 apps might be the typical letter sent if they did not get to your application in time.
The one asking for 7th semester grades means you were properly deferred after a review of your application.
And the ones saying that they’ll use it to advocate for your admissions means there’s a strong chance of admission as you’re a qualified candidate.
Again, just my theory, I might be completely wrong though! :slight_smile:

Just a quick question-- I went on the UMich website and found my counselor for my state and emailed my letter of continued interest to them. Is this correct?

We r expecting some result in this friday …rt…

@c011e9e that makes sense bc i submitted my app the day before the deadline but my friend received the same letter and she’s in state and she applied in early september/october

Do you really think some might find out as soon as Friday?

I think they will come out closer to the end of February as they need to upload and analyze 7th semester grades. Many school are just now sending over transcripts.

Somewhr from last yrs thrds i think i read they keep on relesing results from first feb of friday
