My decision just came today and it said i was deferred for a final decision until a later date. Now i read some other threads and people were talkin about how to enhance your status. I already sent my mid year report into michigan with 3 A's in 3 AP courses and B's in 2 literature courses. Shud i visit michigan or do something to show interest. Alexander you think u can help me :)?

ParamDog, I do not have any influence that will sway the AdCom at the University. And there is very little you can do to demonstrate interest. Usually, Michigan sees early applicants as having demonstrated interest, but again, there is little any applicant can do to show interest. If you arrange for an offical visit, perhaps call the admissions office , explain that you are a deferred applicant (drop your name) and ask for dates when there are organized tours of the campus, perhaps they may take note of it, but I doubt it. Your midyear report may be considered, and since it is decent, it may help. But there is very little you can do on your end to affect the outcome of the AdCom.

is there a trend that most deferred students get ultimately rejected or accepted? Becuase on the letter it does mention that there is "a greater probability for admitting additional students later in the process." by the way i am out of state(NY), URM, SAT(1370: 680V, 690M). thanx alot alexandre

I am not sure about the odds for deferred applicants, but generally, they aren't good. However, you are an URM and you have a good SAT score, so your chances are good. Plus, your grades seem to be getting better, and universities like seeing prgress. You have a decent chance, but not a great chance.

what does URM mean?
