Definitely going to UCLA?

Who here is positive about going to UCLA?

I am pretty sure. The only other school I would consider is Claremont Mckenna if I get accepted.

If I get in, I'm 99% sure that I will accept UCLA. Unless something major and unforeseen were to occur UCLA is my top choice by leaps and bounds.

It's funny, because when I told my extended family and friends about getting into UCLA, they all assumed that it's totally definite that I'm going. My grandma said "Just send in your SIR right now!" I was surprised. I guess people, at least in my area, assume that getting into UCLA is the pinnacle of an educational opportunity and one I should definitely accept.

I'm about 70% sure. But I need to wait until I hear from other colleges, and make one last visit...

I've decided that without a doubt, I'm going to wait until I hear back from all schools before I make any decissions... Granted I'm sure UCLA will be the last school I hear back from.

About 50% sure I want to go to UCLA. Depending on Georgetown's Financial Aid package and Stanford's decision before a definite choice.

let's just say I have to wait for Amherst, Dartmouth, Harvard, CAL, and Stanford. But if I didnt get in to any of them....I'd still be totally happy at UCLA. I have worn UCLA clothing since elementary school.

Your grandma knows what an SIR is?

LOL alicantekid.

nobleguy, are you from LA area? many parents in the LA area consider UCLA to be the pinnacle of an educational opportunity, especially since how they consistently hear how hard it is to get into from their peers.

Just waiting for Berekeley. If I don't get in, then 100% sure I'm going to LA. But, if I do get in then, I might go to Cal, because my parents want me to stay close to home, because of a minor disability.

i still have to hear from CAL, stanford, harvard, jhu, princeton, and brown at the end of the month -_-.

im in no rush but if i dont get into any of those schools its most likely UCLA. Getting in was already a blessing since I was considering not applying to UCLA initially but I decided to send it to UCLA to give it a shot.

im glad cuz it paid off.

alicantekid - lol, no, I said that for clarity sake. My grandma grew up in Iowa and does not know ANYTHING about this sort of thing. She wanted me to send it in right away because she was afraid that I wouldn't get housing in the "huge scary ratrace" of LA. I reassured her, that unlike Berkeley, UCLA guarantees housing for one year and beyond... ;)

kfc4u - No, I live in a really small town north of Sacramento. 50% of graduates of my high school go right to work, 40% go to community college, and 10% go to CSUs. Usually only five or six people every year go to UCs, and those are usually Davis. So, getting accepted to UCLA from my school is like getting into Harvard. Everyone just assumes that I'll go.

Noble...going to UCLA is close to the pinnacle of an educational opportunity..explain to me how it is not.

I think you are trying to come across cool and indifferent...only an ignorant person would fail to recognize the opportunity and cache a school like UCLA can offer. This is not to say it is the best choice for everyone.

And especially at your school, it is a very fair and accurate perception that if someone get into UCLA they would go unless there is a genuinely better opportunity available to them. From your posting it would seem that you don't value the acceptance and it is my hope that you don't go and make room for a student that wants to be there.

I am still waiting on Wellesley College! However if that does not work out then UCLA for sure.

possibly, i'm still waiting to hear from berkeley, stanford and the ivy league colleges...

I'm for sure going to UCLA...unless I decide to go to UCI or UCSB instead, and that would be straight out CRAZY!

m989, im waiting on wellesley too! if i get waitlisted, i don't know what i'd do

exilio, that's not the point I was trying to make at all. UCLA is my first choice, and I agree that it's an excellent, excellent school.

The only thing I thought was interesting was that they thought it was so great that I should just decide NOW before hearing from six other colleges I applied to that could possibly offer financial benefits or something. It's a good school, but no reason to rush things...

Waiting for Berk. If I get that, then I don't know. I haven't visited either properly, but I've seen UCLA and I definitely like the surrounding area and the whole look. From what I hear about Berkeley, it sounds a little gloomier. But it's closer to home so I won't have to fly. If Berkeley doesn't pan out, then it's UCLA or USC on scholarship, but I think I'd still choose UCLA.

bruins all the way unless i get a scholarship from berkeley or something... then it depends on how much they offer me..

but im 95% sure i want to go to UCLA

I'm not really sure right now! I just found out today I got into Boston College and I'm waiting on Columbia and Princeton.

I've wanted to go to Columbia for a while, but UCLA is looking better everyday.
