@jberav, I’m curious too! I don’t think too many would take the time to come on here and post it.

My friend had two kids attend UDel and she was surprised that my D had heard so early. She said she thought people usually heard around mid March, so I’m thinking perhaps they are sending out early acceptances for strong candidates, since most of the people posting here are getting merit aid and will send out those being declined in March. Just my hunch.

@myjanda this year is a totally new year for admissions at UD. In all the years past only Delaware residents heard in December and then everyone else in Mid March. (as my D a sophomore at UD did) With the quasi rolling decision this year they have sent many out in 8-12 weeks after application is complete. Others they are holding on to they may be waiting for semester grades or in the more competitive programs to see a better balance of the applicant pool before giving a rejection or admission.

Where can you find out about merit aid?

From a post on another thread " Once you log in and you get the congratulations message, go to the right. Under my Check List there is a blue box. The first item listed is “My awards and Financing”. Under it says “View My FAAN”. Click on that and it will bring you to financial overview page. about 1/2 way down you will see the award listed". Hope this answers your question.

My awards and financing isn’t there, the first thing that is listed is my reservations. Would it be safe to assume that I didn’t get a merit scholarship?

My best “guess” is that you are correct.

D applied 10/26…told application complete on 11/26, then told complete on 12/12. Portal went from “under review” to “official notification through email” two weeks ago…today portal changed to “once your decision is finalized, official notification will be sent via mail” 16 weeks from application, 12 weeks from 11/26 completition and 9 weeks from 2nd completition date…she’s been accepted to her 2nd, 3rd and 4th choices but UD remains #1. However, she’s starting to feel as though she’s just being tossed around at this point. Her twin brother accepted to private school in PA back at the end of November. My oldest S in a senior at UD.

@Banerbunch, you have a legitimate gripe. UD should benchmark other schools to see how the application decision can be successfully managed through an on-line portal.

For example, University of Maryland has two cut-off dates - Priority Applicants and Regular Applicants. If you meet the November 1st Priority date, you will have an answer by January 31st. An e-mail is sent once decisions are available and the portal immediately shows the decision. The system worked perfectly for my son. Some applicants were filled with angst as January came to a close but the university met their commitment and sent out answers on the 28th - three days early.

However, U Maryland doesn’t include merit scholarship information with their acceptance notification. When comparing these two schools, I don’t know which is better - acceptance on an arbitrary date with merit scholarship info or acceptance on a specific date with a 4 - 6 week wait on scholarship details. Both involve waiting…

Please don’t feel bad the exact same thing I mean exact to the T is happing with my D her application process has been handled by UD the same way and today her portal changed also this is insane

OOS Pa Mom waiting v.e.r.y patiently. Not really!!! It has been at least 10-12 weeks.

OOS PA mom too waiting and waiting. It is 12 weeks this week for my son’s app and the portal just changed to say the same about “once your decision is finalized…”

I liked it better when there was one date in March!! Didn’t like that when my D was waiting 4 years ago, but it is better than this unknown.

fingers crossed that change is not a bad sign ):

My perspective, for what it is worth, is that this new portal message is a good sign as it indicates to me that UD is at least taking some action on finalizing decisions. There are only about 4 weeks left until the time when UD used to send out decisions in their past system and I think they will be making an effort to get out as many decisions as possible before the old historical date (the Ides of March is an ominous time anyway). I know it is agonizing to wait but it should not be much longer. Good luck to all those still waiting. Obviously I am biased but I think most applicants accepted who decide to attend UD will find that the wait was worth it.

thank you hope you are right

Accepted plus honors college and $10,000 scholarship :)

^^^^ Excellent! Congratulations.

my son’s portal changed again like others on here… said “notification via mail” for two weeks now I have the once a decision is made notification via mail. ugh… the wait continues…
