Delaware Class of 2018 Acceptances

my d waited 11 weeks since Nov 1 Got acceptance in mail today and was notified by email last week.
Got small scholarship… Very excited from New Jersey

accepted to business school 9k

96.5/100gpa
720math1

I am thinking the portal change to “once a decision is made…” Is just new wording so people aren’t so confused by what it used to say. The old text led you to believe the decision was in the mail when it wasn’t so at least this way it clears up that misconception. If that is the case, I am glad they realized the original wording was confusing. As for my S we are past 12 weeks for completion of application and 9 weeks from competition of art portfolio and his portal still says “under review”. The wait continues :(

My D still waiting to hear, but it is her first choice. Can anyone who has already been accepted tell me when Admitted Student Day is? She’d like to sign up for a few other school’s events (just in case. . .) but I am afraid we are going to have a conflict if UDel’s is the same day. Apparently the date of Admitted Students Day is a closely guarded secret, until you are actually accepted!

there are two admitted dates: April 12th and April 19. good luck and keep us posted when you get accepted!

Just found out today! Regular admission (i think) by portal change. Nursing major. Gpa 4.01/5.0 and 3.59/4.0. ACT score of 30. Never sent subject tests because I didn’t know they wanted them oops. From Virginia. My aid report says that it’s unavailable until mid-march. Does that mean I didn’t get any merit? If I don’t get any, I’m not attending. If I get at least $7500 a year, it’s possible.

Normally it is financial aid that is not available until mid-March if you filed a FAFSA on time. In order to see if you have merit money you need to click on the aid section in the blue box on your congratulations screen. It will bring you to another screen with a form that looks like a financial aid contract. Half way down the page you will see the amount you received… if you did. Based on your scores in comparison to many on this site, you should have received something.

When I try to click “view my faan” it says it is unavailable as they determine aid eligibility for class of 2018… Has anyone else seen this?

Just checked our portal and it now has the same message you have. This is new and was not there when my daughter received her acceptance a few weeks ago. Hopefully when you receive your package in the mail your merit information will be included. Hope you get good news!

My family lives in DE. What happened to the whole “Commitment to Delawareans” thing where DE residents were supposed to hear first before anybody else and not have to compete with out of state students for seats? My son’s application was completed in November(admissions office says “mid December” and we still haven’t heard anything. Half of my son’s school in DE has heard and the other half are still waiting. I think it is terrible the way UD Admissions has handled this and am really annoyed on how the flagship school of the state where we pay taxes to has handled the DE kids. My son is about ready to accept admission to the University of Alabama where he heard back in about two weeks as he has about had it with our State Flagship UD!(at least he’ll see some real football!)

lol… agreed pgddad it’s very different this year… I’m OOS but was curious out the Commitment to Delawareans has changed with the new admissions process… only thing I can say is 2xs tuition (43K vs 23K) may be speaking loud and clear to the university.(taxes or not) At least you guys get a decent break on tution… I think the difference in NJ is about 8K for out of state students. FWIW my son applied mid October and we are still waiting too… seems like they skimmed off the ones they wanted for sure and the rest of us are in this together. Alabama is a lot of fun and a beautiful campus but the academics are great at UD. Good luck to your son and to the rest of us playing the waiting game.

Same to your son lefty! Sorry for the rant!! We are originally from NJ by the way(Clifton) and have been in DE for about 10 years.(Proud MSC grad) Leave it to our luck that the year my son applies to UD they change the admissions procedure. In years past all DE kids heard by the end of January!

Thank you, Cakeisgreat!

Previous post: January 28
My daughter’s portal was also changed yesterday to “official notice via mail”. Hopefully something in the mail soon.

We have not seen anything in the mail yet, but this morning I looked on her portal and she has “acceptance” She applied with first choice “Marketing” and second choice “Business Undeclared” but it now says “University Studies”. That’s not the end of the world. She will attend.

Just checked portal and found out my son got accepted! Very excited as it’s his first choice. I didn’t see anything listed for merit award - says aid with be determined mid march. Does that mean he didn’t get any merit scholarship? Haven’t received “official” package in mail yet so hoping its in there. He’s from MA.

.

Hey everyone… been stalking this feed for MONTHS. This was BY FAR my daughter’s first choice school, was just waiting for UConn’s decision. She will be going to UDel in the fall. :)

Regular Admission
Portal page was updated first: Jan. 13. Got the letter in the mail on January 15.
Connecticut - OOS
Exercise Science major (hoping to continue on to the PhD program in Physical Therapy)
GPA: 4.319 / SAT: 1860
Merit Aid: UD Scholar: $9,000 annually (GPS must stay above 3.2)
Recruited (no scholarship) for the Women’s Rowing team
Extra stuff: Crew team captain, Nat’l Honor Society, Peer tutor, Chair of Pulling for Pink campaign, All-American athlete, 6 AP classes, Big Brother/Sister, French & Chinese clubs

What I think is that the activities were enough to even out the average SAT scores… seems they really do look at the complete package, rather than just focusing on grades or test scores. Good luck everyone. We’re REALLY excited to join the Blue Hen family!!!

corkymom…did you give up on hearing from UCONN? It’s crazy that the kids are hearing from UCONN so much later than everywhere else. I think UCONN will lose a lot of good students because of this new way of doing things.

CTmom610 - we finally got the letter from UCONN on Saturday - she was accepted, no merit award tho. I know that a couple of her friends got between $3,500-5,000 for annual merit money. I completely agree with you about them losing good kids. Seems crazy to me… Oh… one thing - I did notice that on the portal page for UConn, I was suddenly able to submit the $150 deposit for admissions (I didn’t) - so that gave us a clue that she was in, days before the envelope came. What’s your preference: UDel or UCONN?
