Has anyone that was denied acceptance as freshman on 2/8/19 but offered opportunity for possible transfer with Dual Enrolled AA received any emails from UF as of yet with their transfer application? I know the denial letter said it would be sent out sometime this week just wondering if anyone has received one yet.
@deniedgator My son is waiting for his as well. I’ll post back when the transfer application has arrived. Good luck
@CV6780 Thanks. I will let also post when received. I am just concerned that the wait for transfer request will become an issue when it comes to housing. The other colleges he has been accepted at want down payments couple weeks after acceptance to reserve your spot so not sure if the accepted freshman have better opportunity for housing options.
@deniedgator We share the same concern. My son called admissions and spoke with a transfer admission officer, and was told the applications would sent out quickly. Whatever that means. We did put a housing deposit down with FSU .
@CV6780 Yes we also put housing deposit down at FSU. My son also got invitation to apply for honors college at FSU so will see where that takes us also.
@CV6780 My son received update to his applied status page this morning that his transfer application for admission to his major for Fall 2019 has been received and to allow time for processing.
@deniedgator Well they updated my son as well. However, they are requesting international transcripts, International credential evaluation report. Time for all call to admissions.
@CV6780 I had to call admissions also this morning because was a little confused on what they were requiring from my son. I did ask about the how long it would take for answer and was told latest they had seen was June but that was exception. I also asked about housing since will be transfer and it probably will affect housing options since the accepted incoming freshman will apply for housing asap and we have to wait for our answer for transfer.
@deniedgator After a quick call to admissions all is well. However, if we have no decision by May 1st we will have little choice then to accept at FSU.
The only thing admissions needs is uploaded unofficial transcripts of all colleges attended (some students dual enroll through a few different colleges). The other requirements will be waived on the checklist soon. Also, the email telling students to check their transfer status is expected to go out today.
@Melissa96 Thanks so much for the info! My son was getting ready to do all the things on the list.
@Melissa96 do you know the realistic timeframe of when transfer decisions will be sent out? I’m an accounting major and the accounting school is telling me mid-June. Any input?
Accounting holds onto the students and makes their decision with regular transfers (most colleges do not do this). So yes, it will be June. I hope that they also talked to you about having all of the prerequisites done and a strong GPA.
@Melissa96 Hello Melissa can I assume that a finance major would get a decision prior to May 5th?
@CV6780 Yes, their advisor who decides used to work in admissions and she understands getting decisions out quicker than May 1st
@Melissa96 what about sports management major? Before May?
@deniedgator Yes, Accounting is pretty much the outlier on decision timing.
@Melissa96 Yes, I have done a very good amount of research throughout the past week or so, so I am aware of the prerequisites, high GPA, and tough admissions process. Thank you so much for your help. Do you happen to know how many students they typically take in Fall semesters, and whether or not housing is full by June? That is also something that is concerning me because of all of the different deadlines.
@fgon1923 - I would not expect there to be on campus housing available in June, unfortunately.
@Melissa96 That’s what I figured, thank you so much for the help.
