In terms of social life, which one is better? It seems like there's this stereotype in chicago that all the universities are somewhat anti-social, but it's so hard to believe since the area is so urban and so many things to do.

Can’t go wrong with either. Both are in the Old Town/Lincoln Park area which is one of the nicest and liveliest areas in Chicago.

depaul, absolutely! such a better location. have you visited?

If you are an undergrad at Loyola, your classes and dorm probably will be at the Rogers Park campus, Devon Avenue and the lakefront. It is right on the El (Red) Line train, but about 25 minutes ride from Lincoln Park and 40 from downtown. Loyola is more self-contained than DePaul, and has a stronger core of classes. DePaul is strong in its specialty offerings.
I think the anti-social misnomer comes from the large number of commuters at both schools.

ya I visited both schools, and I loved them both. I’ve just heard things from people that since if you’re under 21 its difficult to find things to do since bars are extremely popular. Im intersted in the CDM program at depaul, which is why I might prefer depaul over loyola. However I thought Loyola had a better overall academic and social experience.
