DePaul vs UF vs UIUC vs Possible Others

I've been accepted into DePaul, UF, and UIUC so far. My major is Public Relations/Communications and I'm hoping to double major in Marketing. All are great schools in my opinion but coming from Miami, I'm a big city girl. Naturally, my top choice right now is DePaul. However, my parents aren't so pleased by my top choice and keep nudging me towards UF because it's cheap and in state. The tuition is definitely steep for DePaul as it's private and out of state. Even with the 11k scholarship I was offered from the school leaves me about 30k short. I don't find out the rest of my financial aid package until later this month. Other schools I'm waiting to hear from are: Syracuse University, University of Miami, Boston University, Boston College, Fordham University, Vanderbilt University, and NYU.

Maybe I have my priorities wrong but my top issue for me is making sure I pick the college most beneficial to my major. I hoping to take my degree to apply towards the music industry so I figure major cities like Chicago, New York, and Boston are my best options. Those are also the most expensive. I'm not the valedictorian nor the Mother Teresa of community service. I also don't qualify for the Pell Grant so grabbing those financial need blind scholarships are a little tough for me as of now. Also screwed for loans because my parents won't cosign on any, which is understandable I suppose.

Any input about any of these schools are greatly appreciated.

Although I know absolutely nothing about the departments at those schools for your major, the good news is that you do. If you really think that the DePaul (or any other of your “top, big city” choices) is worth <x amount="" of="" dollars=""> more than UF education, then definitely go for it. That said, loans can be a nightmare and as a marketing / PR grad you probably aren’t going to be making that much at first.</x>

My advice is to weigh your options once you hear more about the aid packages. Maybe call the schools once you hear from them all and see what sorts of connections they have for communications post grad.

p.s. i’m from Florida
