I searched the forums for more info on the major / department, however it was a little outdated (from last year).

I'm going to be a Design|Media Arts major this fall! I've looked up all the information on UCLA web sites, but I'm wondering if there are any opinions from students (or people who know students) in the D|MA department and have any opinions, personal feedback on it?

How many freshman are typically in D|MA? Pros / cons? Likes / dislikes?

I would also like to know the same thing. Please someone reply, very curious about this program.

Congratulations! When S (D|MA'05) applied, 55 students were accepted into the program out of 600 apps, so it's a small program. Despite having some profs with whom he disagreed at times, he feels that it was the best preparation that he could have received. He's been employed - either full-time salaried or full-time+ free-lance since graduation. You'll develop a great network of friends who help one another find jobs while still in school and after graduation. Plus, you'll have faculty members who are helpful in identifying potential positions. There are so many opportunities like the Ad Team, being a TA for one of the summer institutes (for HS students), etc. He also took videography classes at UCLA. Feel free to PM me if you have other questions.
