As of today, my daughter's status has changed to design review.

madoug, that means she has passed the first step of academic review – University Admissions office has now passed her application on to the College of Design. COD will be reviewing her design essay and portfolio images in the next few weeks. Hopefully, mid to late December she will receive an invite to Interview Day in January. Good luck!

Will I get an email when my status changes or do I just need to keep checking?

I really don’t know, since my daughter would have gotten the email.

As Dad, I was checking her WolfPaw account every day in December (and later in March) to get the latest updates.

Anyone else have their status changed?

My daughter had not received an email that her status had changed, we logged in to her wolfpaw account and noticed it.

And I guess it would have been more appropriate to title the thread Potential Design Class of 2017.

Madoug. Has the status changed again or does it still say design review?

no change status still design review

I guess it would stay “design review” as long as you are still being considered? So even after an invitation to interview?
If you are not invited to interview what happens? Then does it go back to “under review”?

If my memory serves me right, I think my D’s status remained as “design review” until she received the news of acceptance in March. Until then, the news that she made the cut for interviews arrived in the mail sometime late December, with all the needed information and instructions enclosed.

Any news about interviews?

no news yet here

I wonder what percentage of those that get interviews get accepted?

Just got an invite letter

my D’s came 12/24!!!

I wonder what their chances are now??

Wheelhouse, congratulations on being invited to interview day. It reflects well on your academic record, essay and portfolio work that got you to this point.

My advice: As hard as it is to do, it’s now time to stop thinking about your “chances”. Start thinking about your passion and your work as a designer/artist. It is not entirely a “percentages” game going forward. You will be expected to maturely receive critique and feedback of your work; as well as discuss your design thoughts and skills when asked to articulate them. Hopefully you have had opportunities in high school to present and “express” your work publicly.

After my D had her interview day, and we de-stressed over lunch, we talked about how it went. She said they asked questions about some of her specific portfolio work (she had all originals and more), they asked about her design ambitions (i.e., expand on the essay), and also her high school art experience.

The only specific question I remember her mentioning, which was a bit odd, was that the Professor asked, “What were you thinking about as you were driving in to the interviews this morning?” She does not even remember what her answer was, but I’m sure it wasn’t just a reply about her nervousness.

Good luck! Keep up the work that got you here, no matter where you decide to attend.

Did you get early acceptance?

MissSDCS, early acceptance is not available for the Design School.

FYI – For those who live near Raleigh, here’s some news regarding a monthly event that may be of interest:
