desperate for help!

My freshmen GPA is horrible... I mean REALLY horrible like 2.x
I managed to bring the GPA up to 3.2 during my sophomore year and my junior year GPA was 4.4.... Considering that I have high SAT SCORE like 2100~2400 and high SAT II scores, good recs, good ec, good essay.... Do I have a chance at going to schools like U of Michigan or Notre Dame or NYU etc??

there really wasn't a reason my grades were so low during fresh/sopho but there is a reason why my grades sky rocketted during junior year... but then I had no APs in junior year but only 2 honors courses.... Math and English...However I will be taking 4 AP courses by senior year....

I think that you have a good shot, Michigan doesn't look at your freshmen grades and an upward trend is definitely going to help you. If you send in your application early you might get deferred; keep it up senior year and send in your first term senior grades. You'll have a good chance of getting in. Good luck

thanks ... so I should send my app late? but doesn't usually sending late apps lower your chances?

turn it in as early as possible

You're definitely a good applicant so if they have any reservations about you they will ask for SR year grades before they can make a final decision anyway...so don't delay, send it early (and do well your SR year expecting that it could make or break you).

wait so they would actually ask for my senior grade?? what if they don't :( because I took only 2 honors courses at junior year but I am going to take 4 APs during senior.... If they don't ask for my senior grades they won't see that :(

Technically, they'll see your senior grades eventually no matter what. If you get admitted and decide to attend, your counselor will have to send them your final trasncript with all of your grades on it (including those from senior year). In my case, they initially admitted me before my first semester was even completed so they made a decision without needing to see any of my grades from senior year. However, I'm sure that they've seen them by now because my counselor had to send them to Michigan (They want to make sure their students don't become too big of slackers during their final year of high school).

However, if they have reservations about your application initially, they may decide to defer their decision to a later date which will most likely be after the first semester is completed. They may ask to see your first semester grades to help them make a decision ((and even if they don't, it would probably be wise to send your grades to them if this happens).

On the application, there is an area that asks what courses you'll be taking during your senior year as well. You'll be able to say that you're going to be taking APs in that section.

so when do you guys suggest on me sending the app? fast as possible? or after 1st term senior year?

Let us make this clear as possible, send them in early! Once you do that, just send in your updated SR grades in December (even if they don't initially ask for them).
Also, if after you're first semester of SR year you have difficulty maintaining a high GPA w/ 4 AP classes, don't feel bad about dropping 1 or 2 of the AP classes. It's better to have a 4.0 with moderate/"easy" classes than having a 3.2 w/ really difficult classes...I learned that the hard way back in high school. Don't "stick out" classes if you have to struggle to get a C in a class. I personally don't like AP classes at all, instead, college classes taken at a local community college during your SR/JR year are usually guaranteed credit (there's no AP TEST), and they're easier. Usually, the high school PAYS for the classes and you don't have to pay to take a 4hr AP test on some Saturday.

ok so send as early as possible and send my 1st term sr grade EVEN IF THEY DONT ASK FOR IT.... okay thank you~

i say send it in early. also, what are your ECs like?

the list is really long .... they aren't really AMAZINGLY GREAT like some research or anything but alot of awards and alot of leaderships
