For the math and language exams, I’ve taken the AP exams for calculus AB and Spanish. If I get 3 or higher on both of the exams I think it says I get credit for the first level classes, but do I still have to take the diagnostic exams. I’m pretty confident I got a 4 or 5 on the Calc AP exam but I’m not sure about the Spanish. Should I still take the diagnostic? I won’t know my scores until July and my orientation is the last week of June… please help

i took the ap spanish as well, and im pretty sure i did terrible..i took the diagnostic exam...im also taking the spanish sat2 in june to see if i can get the credit that way

I believe that I read on an earlier thread that your advisors at orientation will tell you to initially sign up for the lower class and then once you find out your AP score, you can just switch to the correct class. But I definitely would take the diagnostic exam anyway. It certainly would not hurt and it says for everyone to take it if they have taken Spanish before even though it nevers mentions AP.

When I registered initially (ages ago now), I was told to assume I got full credit for any AP/college courses I came in with and to register for the higher course.

For the math diagnostic exam, I remember that it was self-graded (I took it online) and was only a guide to help you choose what level of Calc to select. That's probably changed since, however.

For language exams, you HAVE to take it (unless you've never taken a language before and will start in first semester). Even if you have AP credit for two semesters worth of a language, you can still be placed into the first semester if you don't perform well.

hmmm ok i guess ill go take the language diagnostic for spanish... anyone know if i have to take the math?
seems like i should call just to make sure.. who should i call if i need to ask about this?
