Did any other only above-average students apply to Harvard?

hahahahaha well I must say, I am international student from South America, Peru, 2010 in SATs, aiming for a 2300+ in SAT II this January, and just hoping to get in.

Nothing I can do right now, just hope for the best  And people, RELAX. At least I am trying to do so hahaha. If any of us does NOT get in, then Harvard was not for us. But if any of us DOES get in, then YEY CONGRATS! We’ll throw a CC party for you hahaha.

joins the brigade We have to do the best we can. No regrets!

I have 3.86 GPA and 31 ACT and I applied. My grades may be above average but my Extracurricular Activities are out of this world. I involved in 17 different club, a school record.

@Everyone. anacrusis is a ■■■■■. Don’t pay attention to her.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/tulane-university/845118-should-i-apply.html

She said:

and

At one point, she said that her ACT was a 35 and her GPA was a 4.6. That thread got deleted though, so I can’t quote it. I’m guessing she is making it lower in this thread because she got caught last time.

Also, in the same post, she listed 20 different ECs. Now she has 17? Reducing it by three does NOT make you believable at all, Ms. Young Republican and Young Democrat. Also, you couldn’t have been accepted to FL already. The University of FL doesn’t have ED/EA anymore. Not since 2007.

I’m sad the thread is gone. :(.

^lol… the saga continues. but on a serious note i too am just above-average.

2190 SAT, 4.1 GPA, track <very passionate about…also a captain, 2160 total SAT IIs (Chemistry, Math II, US history), community service…somewhat of the usual. i just hope i portrayed myself in a different angle then most people. my supplement was about my procrastination. It sounds cliche, but i think i took an insightful spin on it. I’ll see how it works out because i also sent it to Yale as part of their supplement.

It’s so sad what you guys consider above average. Normally people would praise God that they know you. :frowning: Actually, maybe this is a good sign for America. I want to be part of the country that overachieves, instead of the country that is falling behind in every subject…

lol anonymous what a vendetta! sigh I really wish that thread hadnt been deleted

Due to your problem of compulsively lying, no one, whether on this internet forum or in real life, will take you seriously.

@Jersey13
I never lied in my life.

maybe not out loud…

Speaking of lies, i heard the most frustrating scenario i have ever heard of today:

The following statement is false. The preceding statement is true.

AAARrrgghh!!!

im in the same situation i have 1460 on SAT 22 on ACT and am ranked 5/92 in my school, bu my school has a rigourous curiculumn and its an international studies school and a charter. i have pretty good EC’s (club soccer for about 8 years in COast Soccer League at th highest level, student government, a few service hours…) and to top it all off my school does not offer any AP courses… have my interview on Wednesday (1/20), I feel like its so much harder to get in since my numbers are low… :(

1460/2400?

probably meant out of 1600

I think he meant a 1460/2400 because he said he got a 22 on the ACT.

Is that an attempt to be funny or just pure stupidity?

i meant a 1460 out of 2400… :/

Erm, 2240 is not an above average score–it’s a pretty good score.

The Collegeboard–Custom Domain by Bitly; the average score of Harvard students at 690-790 (the 50% of Harvard students. Meaning 25% below that range and 25% above).

The “average” score was ranging from 2070 to 2350. I guarantee you, 2240 is well in their range.

It all depends on the rest of your app. A 2350 can be made average by generic essays and little non-academic work and a 2100 can be made exceptional by classy pieces of writing and extracurricular involvement among other things.
