Did everyone get invited to the overnight stay program at Berkeley?

I just got this email. Does it go out to everyone? Or does it mean something..?

SAVE THE DATE

Dear Leadership Award Applicant,

As you consider your college admissions decision, we invite you to save the date to experience student and campus life at UC Berkeley through the OVERNIGHT STAY PROGRAM (OSP), a 2-day campus visit organized by the Leadership Award Scholars Association (LASA).

Participation in OSP is contingent on your acceptance to UC Berkeley. If accepted, you will receive an email from us on March 26 with instructions on how to register.

Overnight Stay Program gives you the opportunity to be a part of all aspects of student life:
- visit the UC Berkeley campus;
- eat at residence dining halls;
- attend classes; speak with current Cal students, alumni, and faculty;
- stay overnight with a Cal student in the dormitories.

OSP also offers a concurrent program for parents of student participants tailored to parents’ interests. Please note: Accommodations are not included for parent participants.

In its 17th year, OSP is the largest event of its kind at UC Berkeley attracting nearly 900 participants per year. As a student-run program, we offer participants a highly unique, inside perspective on college life by helping high school seniors decide if Cal is the right fit for them.

WHEN IS OSP?
You can participate in one of three sessions:
Session I: Sunday, April 11 - Monday, April 12, 2010
Session II: Sunday, April 18 - Monday, April 19, 2010
Session III: Sunday, April 25 - Monday, April 26, 2010

HOW MUCH IS OSP?
$95 per student (includes meals, program & accommodations) and
$95 per parent (includes meals and program, no accommodations provided)

HOW DO I REGISTER?
Due to the popularity of this program, sessions fill up quickly. We will offer the opportunity for you (students & parents) to sign up for early priority registration on March 26.

Best of luck on your college admissions and we hope you will join us at OSP.

Sincerely,
Leadership Award Scholars Association
A student group sponsored by the Cal Alumni Association

i’m assuming everyone who applied for the scholarship got that same email, regents scholarship candidates can stay for free :)

Essentially you’re asking if this is any indication of acceptance, and no, its not

Haha I got this e-mail too. Hopefully it’s good news, but I wouldn’t count on it.

Well that’s mean of them, getting people all excited
So it had nothing at all to do with my app or my chances?

darn it… i was hoping it was some indicator of admission :(

yeah i mean, i really don’t get why they would send these out this close to admissions if everyone gets them. did anyone who applied for the scholarship not get this?

Just received one too. And yes, it did get my hopes up for a second there. :(

I guess I can understand why they sent it out (saving the Date for planning-purposes), but it was kinda mean.

anyone else?

If you were a candidate to interview for Regents/Chancellor scholarship, then you are admitted.

hahahah I thought the exact same thing when I opened the email. No I think everyone gets it.

man i was gonna ask the same thing. lol yeah i got one too which basically means everyone gets one cuz i know they would just send it to ME and other smart ppl cuz i didn’t get phenomenal scores or anything. and berkeley probly wants that.

Yep I also got this email, but I’m not going to read TOO much into it.

doesnt everyone who applied to the scholarship get this email?

I got a similar one from the Regent’s, which gave me a free board and food or something. I also got this because I applied for the Leadership’s as well. They seem to be on different dates though, so I probably won’t go to the Leadership’s OSP.

Hey, I think you guys/gals are admitted. Why would they invite you to attend if it’s in April unless the only time you can sign up is March 26th and not before. I wish my son had applied for the Leadership award. He missed the deadline :-(

I think a better question to ask is if someone who applied to the Alumni Scholarship DIDNT get the email?

I honestly don’t think it means anything, it’s probably just for planning purposes like hisbeloved said… And doesn’t Cal do admissions March 15th?

But then again, even though the leadership organization has nothing to do with berk, berk may have sent them a list or something of people who have a higher chance of admission? I’m just speculating, because it does seem mean to send the email out a few weeks before decisions if it doesn’t indicate admission.

to clarify:

This is an alumni leadership award email to all scholarship APPLICANTS. If you applied for the scholarship, you get the email. Simple as that. In the email, they say they will only let you RSVP IF you are admitted, thats quite a big IF.

People who are candidates for the Regents Scholarship are admitted, thats a separate scholarship that you get chosen for. They sent those out in mid February already.

They haven’t scored the applications yet, and they won’t begin until early April, as you can see here: [Cal Alumni Association Calendar: Scholarship Reading Event - UC Berkeley Campus](Events at UC Berkeley).

So unfortunately, the email doesn’t mean anything. It must have gone to all applicants.

whoa boy. .
