Did i get a likely letter or not?

i got a holiday email that went as followed

Season's greetings from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We know that this is a very busy time for you as you complete your challenging senior year. We hope that you will take time during the holiday season to take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy time with the people who are close to you.

Although the fall semester at Carolina will come to an end very soon, our students continue to take advantage of the unlimited opportunities available to lead and learn. We encourage you to visit Tar Heel Blog to get a quick glimpse of how a few of our students are doing just that. Berkley is preparing for study abroad in Spain, dramatic arts major Tony has just appeared in a student performance through the Playmakers Repertory Company, and Debra has been shadowing a cardiologist in the UNC Hospitals. For updates and to read more about individual Carolina journeys, remember to visit again in the new year.

We wish you every happiness this holiday season and throughout the coming year

a birthday email that went as followed:

On behalf of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, we would like to wish you a very happy birthday. As you celebrate your birthday this month, you may be thinking about the exciting days ahead in your academic career.

December is a very special month for us at Carolina as well. While classes will come to a close very soon, our students continue to find ways to extend their learning across campus. They are especially creative about celebrating and learning about their own individualities. To celebrate your birthday--and the many unique aspects that make you who you are--we encourage you to take a moment to learn more about the University Program in Cultural Studies. This program serves as a home to students with interests as diverse as the social studies of science, local migrant farm workers, or the influence of built space on consciousness. All participants are united by questions of the complex, dynamic workings of culture in theory and in practice.

In addition to your birthday, there are many exciting campus events this month to celebrate. For the latest happenings on campus, please see the Student Life Integrated Calendar of Events (SLICE).

Throughout the year we encourage you to visit the University, keep your homepage information current and visit our Diversity homepage for regular updates. For more information about Carolina, we also encourage you to contact Dr. Herb Davis at (919) 966-3993; Jessica Hernandez at (919) 962-7229; or Damon Toone at (919) 966-3985.

Again, please accept our best wishes for your birthday

so is this a likely letter/email or not

I would really like to know too. Can anybody help?

i got the same things so i dont think its a likely letter

No, those are not likely letters. They're good wishes from the school, so you'll feel warmly toward them. So that if they accept you, you'll want to go there.

Same kind of question. Received by email (I haven't gotten any snail mail from the school):

Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill—we are delighted you have submitted an application. I was particularly gratified to learn of your continued interest, as it was my pleasure to welcome you to campus for Carolina 101. I hope it helped you learn more about the opportunities you could enjoy at Carolina.

You are part of a diverse group of academically impressive high school seniors. Through a thorough review of your courses, grades, essays, activities, and letters of recommendation, the admissions committee feels we’ve gotten to know you better. We are very impressed with your accomplishments, and look forward to notifying you of our final decision in a few weeks.

[A few links to the honors program, financial aid, daily blog, etc. were included at the end]

now the last post does sound like a likely letter.

Question: did anyone not get the season's greetings email (that is all that have email!).

I got the "Season's Greetings" email on the 20th, and the likely letter?/not likely letter? on the 21st.

this isn't fair that they wait so long and are so confusing!
