did it just get really hard to get in this year?

my high school class is amazingly competitive this year (40% have 90+ average) and everyone who applied got rejected from IVY's regular decision (including me.) even last year... similar caliber students were accepted... but this year, none, even URM's. whats happening-- can someone explain??!!

same here...at our hs, qualified students got rejected....i hate this...this is soo bogus

so as mine!

same for my school. this year, they are receiving more applicants in general, and those applicants are more qualified.

snowgirl, are you living in albany?

we shall over come, we shall over come
we shall overcome some day
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe
We shall overcome some day

i know we will, we will fight this, with all our guts and power

Wow. I'm not sure what to say, but I think it might be coincidence.

At my school with a senior class of 458 (This is what I know as of now)

1 - Yale AP
2 - Darthmouth AP
3 - Harvard AP
5 - Harvard IB
7 - Cornell AP
13 - (Me) Cornell, MIT, Rice [ Still haven't heard from Pton... prolly reject] IB

Oh, #1 is hispanic, 2 is indian, 3 is japanese, 5 is hispanic, 7 is white, and i'm hispanic.

1 and #2 are NMSF, and 5 and I were hispanic recognized, but I would've qualified if my 2150 counted.......

Anyways, it is odd I must say.

Highest SAT was a 2230 from #2 with a 2200 on #3 and 2150's for #1 and I. I have the highest triplet for SAT II's with a 2300 followed by # 3 with a 2280. My GPA is about.... an 89 so a 3.4 UW with a 101 W, and # 1 is a 95 UW with a 106 W.

Best awards in the class were mine and the vals. State Constitution Team champs, my state photoshop 1st place, and district/regional UIL competition stuff.

BTW, this is a public school ~ 2000 total in South Texas with an ~800 SAT average (old), and about 60% go to college from what I remember. Not great by any standards because it is 90% hispanic and most students drop out.

P.S - This is the weird part. #5 applied to harvard on a whim (her only other app was UT) and isn't sure if she wants to get. #3 applied, but now doesn't want to leave her parents (and neither do her parents want her to go far) so if she gets into Rice that is where'll she will go. I don't know if I want to go to Princeton (if accepted) or MIT over Rice because of atmosphere. None of us applied EA for any school. Neither of the Cornell acceptees really want to attend it (I'm one) because it seems to cold, far away, isolated, and big.
