i received the wellesley book award last year. when i got an invitation to go to a luncheon for book award winners hosted by the regional admissions officer, i could not go and didn't even rsvp. i made a huge mistake and i'm worrying if my chances at wellesley are significantly lowered because of my seeming disinterest. i feel really REALLY bad :(.

If it was for a lot of winners (each high school in your area has a winner?), chances are high the officer won't connect your name! But do RSVP to similar events in the future even if you can't go.

not a big deal
it already past

iorifan is right: it's over and done with, so don't panic about something you can't change.

Second, I don't know if regional admissions officers read the applications. There are a number of on-campus individuals involved in applicant selection, but I'm not sure how the regional officers fit into the equation. This would be a good question for the admissions office.
