Hey everyone,

I did not realize I could self-report AP scores on the Common App until recently, but I have already submitted it to all of my schools. I took 3 APs last year and received 5s on all 3 exams. Should I contact the colleges and ask if they can add it to my file, or is it not worth it? Thanks.

That is a worthwhile item to provide as additional information to your colleges. You can send this info by email.

Thanks for the response niceday! I emailed the schools I’ve applied to, and so far I’ve received a response from RPI:

“Thanks for your email. You can self report it and I will forward this to our operations staff, however, we will need to see an official copy so that we know the scores and in fact correct. Please let us know if you have any other questions.”

Clearly I have no idea where I will end up, so do I really need to send them an official report via Collegeboard now?

There are very few schools that require official AP reports in the application process. Most only require them upon your acceptance of their offer. RPI is an exception and in that case, yes, you would need to send official scores for them to be considered in the application process. Of course, you don’t have to do this. Your app is already complete. So, don’t spend the money if you think it’s highly unlikely you’ll wind up at RPI.

Alright, I don’t think I will then. Thanks so much for your insight, you’ve been really helpful!

When you submit AP scores, it is likely sent to the registrar office instead of admission office.
