yesterday my friend told me he got accepted...i thought it was a little early for RD...or did they change the decision time this year?

Well if that were true we'd probably be seeing the "Post here if you got accepted/rejected" thread getting flooded.

Unless your friend has some special contacts ...

Look, either he was accepted Early and he is just now telling you or he somehow been recruited for athletics or something. Otherwise, the date for decision is most likely march 15th (official one will be released soon).

On said date, do you know where to check if you've been accepted or not? Is it just the home page of your MyMIT website?

It will be decisions.mit.edu. And no the website does not work yet, but I know you're going to check anyway. ^^said date will be march 15th. I almost willing to bet my life...almost.

MIT, a Division III school, doesn't actively recruit athletes, except for Crew. You have to get accepted like everyone else and then you can make the team.
Also, MIT will definitely announce on their website when decisions will be out. What's the story with your friend???

^^Yea I thought so but i had to put that in my statement just in case.

hmmm that's strange...i'm 100% sure that he didn't apply ED cuz he got deferred at another single-choice school...and he just told me yesterday that he got accepted at MIT, and he doesn't play crew...

Then he is almost surely pulling your leg.

Haha. Maybe everybody checked their status page (even me :D)

Kids lie. There was one kid in my grade who told everyone he got a 36 on the ACT and got into Stanford in September but was going to go to Central Michigan University instead to stay close to home. And everyone in my class believed him.

I definitely underestimated the gullibility of a lot of people on that one. I'm still having to explain how selective college admissions works to people, and that given the fact that the kid in question was not interviewed by the paper like every other perfect scorer our area has produced, chances are good it's not true.

Basically, that was a really long way to say no, decisions are not out.

lol.he may have been backed up by one of the coaches and thus he told you he was in, but it's still not official and the don't necessarily have to take him. so like everyone else said: the date is the 15t (or around then). unless he applied EA

yea i concur with a passiones hahaha evil laugh

yea 10 char

How do you know that decisions will be released on the 15th?

why couldn't he have gotten a likely letter? MIT does give those out right?

No, MIT does not give out likely letters.

Matt's blog says here:

The short answer... is MIT doesn't send these "likely letters."

Well, apparently Caltech mailed their decisions today.

lol why does that excite me, even though i didnt apply there. im such a loser

"MIT, a Division III school, doesn't actively recruit athletes, except for Crew"

Unless something has changed, MIT doesn't actively recruit for crew either...
