I have an 1800 on my SAT's...i'm retaking them in november but i don't know if they will see my score...is it better to send in the application early or does it not matter? I have to submit mine by December 1st.

My gpa is 3.8 unweighted, 4.2 weighted and will be higher by the end of my senior year or mid year report

Something that might make me stand out is that i've taken 15 college classes and gone up to Calculus 3 possibly calculus 4 just cuz i love math : ] and im going to major in neuroscience. i am a cofounder of a family owned hotel and volunteered and had work experience elsewhere.

these are my other choices of colleges:

nyu
colgate
pepperdine
claremont mckenna
stanford
loyola marymount
northwestern
occidental
pitzer
usf
ucla
ucberkely
ucirvine
ucsb
and of course usc..is my first choice.

I think if you apply ED to NYU you have a really good shot at getting in, but obviously if USC is your first choice you’re not going to want to do that. I’m pretty sure you’ll probably get into half of those schools if you’re as talented as you say. I haven’t really heard of anyone getting in with an 1800, but you clearly have some special abilities that you should present in your application. I’m sure that some people do get in with that type of score. Good luck.

I’m a current neuroscience major at USC. I don’t know if my scores were exactly similar enough to yours to really accurately compare (1960 SAT/ 4.4 GPA) with great ecs and a lot of your probability depends on the academic performance of your class. In any case, just fyi, I didn’t get into UCberkeley, or northwestern, got into the rest of the UC’s.

Yeah, I figured it was a myth. Probably just something some UCLA students say to make themselves feel elite or something…

(Sorry, I don’t go to USC yet, but I already have fierce USC pride against UCLA. I get really tired of many UCLA students acting like UCLA is so much more intellectual than USC. Haha.)

^When they say “average SAT/ACT” for UCLA, they do mean the same “middle 50%”, right? When I look at the two sites, it seems both schools have about the same averages, with USC’s being slightly higher.

yeah the ucla thing isn’t true. my aunt got in and im pretty sure she didnt get 2200 or near there. and yeah it is kinda of dumb how ppl say ucla is better lol especially when they say “usc kids are rich and spoiled” or whatever…

but anywaaayzz thanx for the advice Taxi…that helps a lot at times like these lol im so scared…but my friend got into nyu with lower sat scores then collegeboard and she only had 3.8 weighted gpa i think with a 1950 or sumthing on sats. and she got rejected from usc. so idk if all of these good school will reject me or if ill have a shot at one of them cuz ppl say its like a 50 50 chance…

I want to know the difference between SAT scores and GPAs for OOS students and IS students at UCLA. I’m sure it’s a big difference.

Also, to the OP, if I had to guess I’d say you have a better shot at getting into NYU. I used to think it was extremely difficult to get into, but then some kid from my school got in who wasn’t the most intelligent kid (maybe in the top 10% of the class). It was probably because I was going to apply to Stern, which I imagine is fairly difficult to get into. I would still apply to both schools and work hard on your applications. Good luck.

He might be a minority which helps a lot but in reality admissions are very unpredictable. Some really good kids get turned down and others with lower average scores get in.
