I applied and got into the university of alabama (tuscaloosa) as an undecided major and also got into the honors college. I have been thinking about going into nursing for awhile but didn't want to apply to their nursing school and then change my mind as I was not completely sure. Now I heard that for colleges, when you want to go into nursing it is a four year program so you must apply as a freshman, in which case I wouldn't be able to do nursing because I would have to start completely over. Is this true? I guess I just have to major in something else now.

Being accepted to their honors college obviously means the school thinks highly of you. Take the guesswork out of your situation and call the school and tell them your desire. You’ll only get guesses here.

The BSN program at Bama is a 2 year program. You do the prereqs for the first two years, then apply for the BSN 2 year program (junior and senior year). Look at what the prereqs and and include those to keep your BSN options open.

true? I guess I just have to major in something else now

???

You’re not locked into anything at this point. Go into MyBama, Academics tab, scroll down left column and change your major to pre-nursing if you want to. It’s not too late at all.

So I just start out normally just like every other major, but making to take classes such as chemistry, and then apply for the nursing program the last two years? And does it depend on how well I do in the classes?
